    Just back from a week in Manhattan and the prices are crazy expensive. $17 for a tin of beer in a bar plus they want 22% tip so £17 basically. Ham and cheese baguette from Pret $14 plus again want 22% tip. Even buying stuff from a convenience store by card and it defaults to a 20% tip. Best advice to avoid this is use cash. Don't mind tipping waiting staff in bars and restaurants but its a joke to be expected to tip at checkout after serving yourself.

    Same silly prices in LA at Easter. A local Subway was wanting a tip via their card machine for 2 x 6inch subs lol
