The Apollonion Asterias Resort & Spa is stylish, tranquil and close to a sandy beach.

The Apollonion Asterias Resort & Spa is set in the countryside outside of Lixouri, so it’s really quiet. What’s more, it’s just five minutes’ walk from sandy Xi Beach.

This place is styled to look like a contemporary castle. Think stone walls, manicured gardens and glass-walled bridges. A few of its mainstays include two pools, an outdoor cinema and a first-rate spa. You can unwind with a free 15-minute treatment at the latter as part of your stay.

Everything is done with style at the Apollonion Asterias Resort & Spa. The smart pool, for example, has a waterfall at one end and a cocktail bar at the other. To refuel, head for the buffet restaurant or the poolside Greek taverna. The to-do list at this place has an arty slant, with an open-air cinema and an art gallery topping the bill.

There are two lagoon-sized pools here, one of which also has a separate splash park for young'uns to play in.Xi Beach – Kefalonia’s famous stretch of red sand – is just a five-minute stroll away. Families are well-catered for here, thanks to the shallow waters and choice of watersports.

  • Outdoor pool. This impressive pool can be found nestled in the gardens. The surrounding sun terrace comes with sunbeds and parasols.
  • Children's pool

On top of the buffet number, you can tuck in to Greek and Italian dishes at two other restaurants. The latter's built on a rooftop, surrounded by elevated gardens.

  • La Primavera. Opening Times: [07.30-10.30, 19.00-22.00]
This buffet restaurant is open for breakfast and dinner, offering both local and international cuisine for you to pile your plate with.

  • Medeo bar*. Enjoy a refreshing cocktail after your day of sunbathing.

  • La Pergola*. Opening Times: [12.00-17.00]
This place serves a medley of grilled food, fresh salads and burgers from an à la carte menu. It's located in the Apollonion complex between the art gallery and pool.

  • Trattoria Oliva*. Opening Times: [19.30-23.00]
This à la carte eatery is located on a rooftop garden and is complemented by picturesque views of the Ionian Sea as you dine over Italian cuisine.

  • Asterias Pool bar*. Opening Times: [10.00-18.00]
This bar overlooks the infinity pool, and serves a range of beverages and light bites.

  • Apollo Music Bar*. Opening Times: [18.00-24.00]
This bar hosts DJs, live music and a Greek night throughout the week, alongside serving hot and cold drinks.

    Great deal.

Currently sitting by the pool at this very hotel. It's very nice if not a little isolated. If you are booking half board you may want to consider adding a car if you want to venture out if the hotel

Accomodation seems fairly cheap and lost available, but the flights are outrageous!thanks

I don't know what kind of holidays you're looking at, but we started going with our kids to Eurocamp. Perhaps you should have a look on their site for more info and after that book directly with the camping site, it is usually cheaper. I don't like caravan style holidays in the UK but I like it abroad. Lots of things to do for the kids, plus location is good for the beach and hanging around. Have a look on line at Camping La Sirene. Camping La Chapelle in Argeles sur Mer, flying to Perpignan is next to the beach. Camping La Masia in Spain is good too, flights to Girona. Cambrills Park Camping is upper scale, more expensive but good, flights to Reus.
We are going for May school holiday to France, £250 accommodation for a week, £350 flights for 4. Taxi 100 euros return, or we can rent a car.
Quite often we pay about £600-700 in May, or about £800-1,000 in August. But it is a struggle. (edited)

Yes. It's the beginning of the season over here so the hotel is very quiet, but in general the area is quiet as there is nothing particularly close.

I'd have to disagree with one of the previous posts about the beech. I was really disappointed. So if you're a beech person don't pick this hotel.

Just to add to this. Duinrell in Holland is great and under 3.5hrs from calais.

Also Union Lido in Italy is fantastic, fly into Venice

We fly, we don't go with the car. That's why I've given you some examples, most these places are within 20-30 min by taxi from the airport if you consider the expensive route, also there is public transport. For example a taxi from Girona airport to Camping La Masia is about £30. (edited)

It would be great, but it's very doubtful. I still need to book a family holiday for August and i'v been looking every day and prices are astronomical for this summer. Im guessing partly because its only 2/3 months away and i'v left it quite late and also because alot of people have not been abroad since covid, so demand and prices are at an all time high. I'm at complete loss what to do.

Well when you find something message me privately before posting on here

I'm honestly considering paying £1100 for the Santander ferry and booking a hotel only in Spain or Portugal... Would be cheaper getting the Calais crossing and driving but think the boat would be a bit of an adventure...

Check kiwi dot.com. just put anywhere in August and work from there. It may involve open jaw which is arrive.in one city and leave from another and may involve a stop. Accomodation try booking dot com, Airbnb, hotel combined, VRBO. Rent a car as that usually saves a fortune.

Thanks, I may have a look at these. So far we try to stick with flying, so we are looking at sites close to airports.
