Good price for a 16GB card with AV1 encoder and decoder.

Acer's spin on the Intel® Arc™ A770 GPU takes your gaming to the next level. 16 GB of GDDR6 memory means games like Apex Legends can spit out crazy FPS even when you have apps running in the background. For extra firepower in titles like COD Warzone, the overlockable GPU ramps up to 2400 MHz. And the cooling system is no joke. It pairs a vapour chamber with dual fans for maximum chill in heated sessions.

Good to know:

- Xe Super Sampling lets you enjoy ultra-realistic visuals in games with ray tracingand AI-Enhanced upscaling
- For nocturnal gaming, the 92 mm FrostBlade fan keeps noise to a minimum
- Game your way by playing with the overclocking, fan speeds and RGB lighting in the Predator BiFrost Utility app
- A HDMI 2.1 port and three DisplayPort 2.0s give you loads of options – go for 8K or team up 4 monitors

Still very much an enthusiasts GPU

AV1 and 16GB are the only advantages over a 3070/4060ti

AV1 and 16GB (albeit you're not really gonna max out a 12GB buffer with this class GPU) against a 6700XT and middle of the pack RT performance

The 6700XT is still the GPU to buy and comes with starfield for £299.99

Performance still lags behind both it's competition, so does driver stability (it's 90% there now) not to mention the greater incompatibilities with older games (edited)

That's a hard sell at that price vs a 6700XT.

I assume they're using the 16GB as the selling point, but last I checked it was a long way behind other GPUs.

You would have to be literally nutty to buy this card for gaming (look for the 6800 non-XT for a hundredish more or bite your tongue and get the 6700XT at the same price).

The ONLY reason to buy an Intel GPU is because you already have the need and expertise to use it for non-gaming purposes (and can't afford to go Ngreedia).

Not entirely true, they have their niche. The drivers are actually pretty good now as long as you're playing modern titles, and they continue to improve significantly with each update. The A750 is a much more compelling buy, £200 for performance equal to or sometimes better than the RTX 3060 is pretty damn good if you're on a budget.

The problem with the A770 is the extra £100 only nets you a ~5% performance gain and an extra 8gb of VRAM, if you're building a budget rig for 1080p or 1440p with modest settings, 8gb of VRAM ought to suffice.

it's not... they stopped making the limited edition models

The price of these is finally getting towards where it needs to be. Modern games (and a modern pc) actually work pretty damn good with these from the 1 I have seen. If you're upgrading an older system the performance isn't good, but 10th gen intel and Ryzen 3000 onwards have resizable BAR.

If you're upgrading something older then stick to Nvidia/AMD.

As ever though, drivers play a massive role in how good a GPU performs, they have gotten much better since release. (edited)

Intel..sorry but not good enough. Needs to be £250 max...like 6 months ago. What is it with these companies obsession with £299?

Recent news of even more ARC driver improvements:

    gameishard.gg/new…83/

"Compared to the launch drivers, certain games like CS:GO, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Stellaris, and Half-Life 2 will see more than a 70% increase in performance.

Moving on to DirectX11 games, the latest Intel Arc drivers provide a 19% performance boost compared to the launch drivers. The 99th percentile FPS, which represents overall smoothness, improves by 20% with the latest drivers."

This is incredibly tempting, not for gaming, but to tinker with LLMs. They are not as good as nvidia, but this is a big difference in price compared with nvidia cards.

What out for very very high idle power usage unless you tweak BIOS and Windows settings

1660S fan broke so fallen back to my 960. Everything still works fine. Better off upgrading your cpu atm.

I hope Intel push ahead with development on more cards. It would be great to have a third horse in the race. I know they have a long way to go but they have the resources and the money to do what is necessary to compete. At least with the mid tier cards anyway.
