sorted byThe legal 'trick' is that a monitor refresh rate refers to the speed of the circuit driving the liquid crystal, NOT the speed of the LCD display itself. VA has insanely slow response - it only exists because when fully 'closed' it blocks light better than other liquid crystal methods, giving much darker blacks. But at the cost of very very very slow response to electrical signals.
There are people who can game at a non-consistent 30fps, and claim that is fine. These same people will claim their VA monitor at some laughable refresh rate is doing its job. Some people have visual perception that is clearly sub-optimal, but they live with it happily. That does not mean their opinion of VA is valid, though.
If you want high refresh that is actually high refresh, you need IPS or OLED.
