one of the rare few laptops that at the £500 budget, with 16gb ram. heat

Also not made of plastic like most near this price point, and screen is above average at 300 nits/100% sRGB. Great deal.

Some of these comments are just silly.
£500 for a laptop of this spec and build quality. Absolute no brainer. For most people this is the perfect balance of quality and cost.

For those saying it's not good value I'd love you to post what you think is a better £500 laptop!!!

The keyboard and touchpad aren’t great if you have used one before (I have) and that’s what would put me off buying another. If you look at specs alone, then it’s a decent enough deal. I suggest you try one beforehand.

For anyone worried about the CPU, don't be. It's plenty fast enough for Windows 11 doing all your day to day stuff even if you're a power user (e.g. programmer).

I'm extremely skeptical of the claimed 16h battery life. If it gets anywhere close (e.g. 10 hours) this seems like an excellent buy.

16GB, 1.2kg, usb-c charging, fingerprint reader, aluminum(?) chassis. tick, tick, tick. The only bummer is the 16:9 screen.
    plewis00's avatar
The chassis is all metal, yes, but it has a cheapish, rough finish that is easy to scratch. Also I didn’t get on with the touchpad or keyboard really, they are quite average and nothing like as good as a Surface Laptop, HP Elitebook or Dell XPS for comfort and precision. I think these are potential concerns for a buyer.

16Gb of PC DDR4 is cheap as chips and no mention of this being DDR5, but unlikely if its a 11th gen i5. u would hope at this price point it had 16GB of RAM

Outrageous price for 11th gen now that the 13th is out.
Yes, it's still a perfectly good laptop and still quick enough for most, but I would expect a larger discount for being 2 generations behind the current state of the art.

Please if you can find a cheaper 11 within the same price range that would be great for similar specs. (edited)

Hot and very tempted. Would prefer a 15"screen but it ticks all my other boxes unless anyones see anything better...?

    Great first post

Is this not slow considering its 11th gen when we have 13th gen now on laptops?
    iamiguel's avatar
I wouldn't say slow, it's still more than enough for general use.

Does it have a thunderbolt port if so it is a pretty good price.

Read the specs like everyone else before asking !

this or the VivoBook 15 X1500EA-BQ2182W Laptop - 15.6in FHD, Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD from very?
    plewis00's avatar
The Swift is miles above the Vivobook X1500 in terms of build quality. The X1500 is fine but cheap and it shows, all painted plastic.

Better deal, I'm not an expert like those ones saying 16 Gb WOW buy it when 8 Gb is less than £20 !!! (edited)

The Aspire is a cheaper machine with only a metal lid but the RAM can be upgraded in it. In the Swift it’s fixed and an ultraportable so you pay a premium for that and the all metal body. If you want performance, you are right, the Aspire is the better choice - the 12th Gen CPU is noticeably faster.

Can I please ask, can I charge this laptop via the USB C port? (edited)
