I e had it with rechargeable. They just don’t last and capacity drops to 200mAh after a year or so.

If they're on a daily recharge cycle (e.g. walkie talkies for work) a year's use is way cheaper than single use cells. For less demanding applications your experience seems a bit extreme, but like all things battery related it often depends on how well you treat them and the quality of the charger you use.
