Anyone know if this is cheaper to run than a gas oven, thanks
    bobthegorilla's avatar
I’ve run the numbers before as I have a gas oven, and decided it’s cheaper but not as much as I’d want. Your situation might be different. Depending on models, settings, oven temperature etc, then very roughly your gas oven will cost between half to the same price to run per hour; and an air fryer would typically take maybe 1/3 to half as long to cook items. If you’re cooking a few hash browns for one person, you might save as much as half the cost with a small fryer like this, but as soon as you need a bigger one or to run it twice the savings evaporate vs gas.

really depends on how and who's using it....i've got a small compact one that i got from asda in the summer for £25

been great for me ...as most of the time i'm only using it for me .....and it sits in the corner taking up next to no space

always get lots of moans about small air fryers on here...but if you want one for a family ....

    buy a bigger one! (edited)

Top tip: Let the air fryer run on a cycle for 20-30 minutes with nothing in it to help get rid of that new smell when cooking
    XP200's avatar
Just for the first time you use it, i take it?

Save up £20 more and get a gourmia from Costco (if you have a membership) whish has double the size and it's one of the best air fryers, this Is good if you're really tight on budget (edited)

Got a link? Can’t find that air fryer online.

Would 3L do a whole chicken or would you have to cut the legs and wings off
    the_mercy_of_percy's avatar
I think you'd be pushing it with a whole chicken unless it's pretty small. Good for 2-4 chicken breasts and thighs though.

Not a bad price but too small for what I need. Lidl had the 4 litres for £40 but missed it.
    KatieeeB's avatar
@Zee_ADZa Asda have George Digital ones for £59. £5.90 off too if you have Bluelight. Have to ring store though or CS who can transfer you to store to check stock. My Asda has 5. (edited)

The two Aldis in our area had none on display this morning (Sunday 4th).

But in the second store I noticed that one customer had one in his trolley! I asked him where they were and he said his wife asked the staff and they still had them in the storage area because it only arrived with the Sunday morning delivery. I did the same of course and asked a staff member, and sure enough he came back with one for me.

So , if there is none on display in your local shop, do ask because on a Sunday morning the staff is so busy dealing with the deluge of customers, they cannot get around stocking additional items for the Special Buys aisle.

That happened to me also, all I could think was what an odd style of marketing!
having unpacked it, I must say I'm extremely underwhelmed, How in Gods name can you cook chips (raw potato chips) without any oil?
In the booklet the only "Tips" given for a few items are either "Turn over", or in most cases "Shake"!
I doubt that will assist raw chips to attain the required consistency!
Seems all its good for is heating up previously deep fried and then frozen food.
Where is the saving in that?
Mine is going back tomorrow, not impressed!

Very nice no fuss order no ridiculous queueing system. It is small though similar to the Argos one. Gave it a go, as mine is on last legs. Thanks.
    RonM's avatar
So how long do they last ?
Because some people are buying in hope saving money.
If cost saving (electric) per meal say 10p a meal .. it takes 350 days before you make any saving at all ( to pay back air fryer cost).

Is this better than the Argos 3L one?

Delivered today, ok size for one person having a large item, worked well on some breaded chicken, cooked it in half the time when you consider heating the oven up before hand.

Seems a decent purchase for the price.
  12. the_mercy_of_percy's avatar
Nice little air fryer - bought one earlier in the year for my elderly mum - perfect for meals for one - Maybelline two depending on what you're cooking in it.

    Not make-up hopefully.

Ok if you want to cook one fish finger at a time. If you want to cook a meal then get the Gourmia air fryer from Costco. Gives a great fry
    gravy_davey's avatar
At double the size you’ll be able to cook 2 fish fingers at a time. (edited)
  15. TheBigLwinski's avatar
    This is ridiculously small!
    caron's avatar
It’s not - it’s a great size for a couple - or a single person - they have lower watts so no point having a larger one for the odd time you need a big oven space
  16. Murphybro2's avatar
If only every cheap air fryer wasn't out of stock at the minute! Crikey, what the heck is going on! First two pages of Argos and Currys have nothing left!

Because too many people are sheeply, believe stuff they read on the internet and are incapable of making their own decisions based on their own research, Martin Lewis speaks, newspapers copy paste articles and then everyone believes they will be savings hundreds a year when the opposite is true.

Mine is sitting with Evri with no signs of moving for the last 2 days, and i have 3 cumberland sausages out defrosting, so it better come today as i want a roll and sausage for tea tonight. lol

Taaadaaaa!, it arrived, so here are my thoughts...

First thing to do is let it run for 30 mins at 200c, its makes a bit of a smell on its first run, so that will burn that away, after tnat i stuck in my sausages and after 5 mins either side they were delicious, totally delicious, i can't get my mini grill/oven to cook them all over to this level of complete, so i am sold on this, and on a personal note i think it is best for the likes of these type of air fryer with the black teflon coating to always use baking paper, that way you won't damage the coating in any way and it will be easier to keep clean.

But yeah i am now 100% happy, that is all i even wanted, a quick way for a roll and sausage now and again without costing me a kidney. (edited)

I'm the same...it's fab...here's a good one I discovered since having this. Get two medium sized baked potatoes, microwave them for 9 mins. Then, split them slightly open, stab the internal potatoes and put cheese and butter in, close them and then put them wrapped in foil in the 'basket'. Blast them in this little beast for 15 mins at 190C. Lovely crispy cheesy jacket potatoes...you'll thank me...

Got mine today...switched it on for 30 mins (to get rid of the nasty new ring/coating smell). Then chucked a frozen Cornish pastie in it (coated in egg whisk) for 15mins at 185...I'm absolutely useless at cooking (I even actually wrapped it in foil - big mistake - it stuck to the foil...haha!)...anyway, when I discarded foil and peeled pastie off and chucked it back in for further 15 mins at 200 and turned it over half way through...perfect pastie! I've never managed to achieve this feat in my old gas oven...to have a Cornish pastie that's properly browned all over on pastry. But then, I openly admit, I am useless at cooking...what made me laugh was the instructions - don't fill the basket above 'max' level marked. I actually got a high power torch and looked and looked - there is no 'max' level marked on basket. Guess you have to use common sense...

I think they're all the same to be fair (under £40) atleast with this you don't have to spend £60 to get it. I'm just getting it to try and if i like it will more than likely get a Ninja dual when they're in offer next year
