sorted byAlways a possibility they're not done with the driver tuning and it'll get a further boost.
I reinstalled the original Watch Dogs recently as an example (with the overhaul mod to make it look better) and the A750 sits below 60fps most of the time at 1440p even without MSAA enabled. Same goes for Assassin's Creed: Black Flag, which I also reinstalled a while back. DXVK is a potential solution to some of these woes (and Intel have deployed it selectively inside their driver to fix up certain high profile titles like CS:GO), but as anyone who's gamed on Linux can tell you it's not a magic bullet with universal, hassle-free compatibility.
Idle power consumption is also still a pretty big problem, with the GPU pulling 40W when completely idle on the desktop (versus <10W for modern AMD/Nvidia cards). You can solve that problem if you have a recent Intel platform, but AMD users (like me) are out of luck. The required BIOS option doesn't exist, at least on AM4. I've found nothing to confirm or deny it does on AM5, since finding actual Arc owners in the wild is like hunting dodos.
For me, it's still something you should only buy if you've really done your research, know what you're getting into and are willing to deal with the driver issues. They're not going to be solved quickly, no matter how much progress Intel have made. They have two decades-worth of hacks, workarounds and game-specific fixes to catch up on. It will take time.

but both cards are very good
So we currently have:
Overpriced green GPUs*
Overpriced red GPUs
Overpriced blue GPUs.
Not sure which consumers should buy with expectation that things change.
What Intel currently offers is the most GPU (biggest die) for what they charge, but consumers generally buy perf/cost** not transistors/cost.
* Nvidia love to be at the top of charts and they certainly are the pioneers at overpriced GPUs; AMD are mostly just copy cats!
** Mostly. But note how, for example, the RTX 3050 still sells for more than a far faster 6600. So for green, consumers are happy to overpay anyhow. (edited)
£250 max or intel don't have a chance.
Although I have an Intel system with a full blood 20 lane gen 4 motherboard, which I would (reasons unknown) have liked to have as an all Intel system and I know I would get the best out this card, I sat and pondered the reality...
The ARC A770 is better on paper (specs), but is somewhat short of its potential as the drivers are nowhere near fully mature. Intel are feverishly working on this and updates are coming fast, yet still the 3060 and the RX 6650 XT are beating it overall in benchmarks even now. I had to consider that it may be 6 months before the drivers are allowing this beast to overtake the 6650, but by then the whole market picture will have changed I'm sure. I'm not suggesting we are gonna be bored to find yet another 4070 in our cereal packets, but I feel a substantial price slump is coming this summer! For me that makes it a 'what's best for my money right now' situation.
Also, outfitted with 8Gb instead of the 16Gb on the Intel LE edition makes it less appealing for one of it's most admirable traits, namely video encoding and manipulation et al and high resolution gaming which eats memory.
The final nail for me was resale price... I know for sure I will be able to resell the 6650 easily, but it's still very much uncertain with the Intel card, just being honest with myself.
Come on Intel, make me a liar, I truly want you to
That's my tuppence worth, let's see what happens eh?
The A750 at £250 (which you can also find on Amazon, or elsewhere) is probably still the better value option.
Seems like a bad time to gamble on buying in ATM. Especially for an 8Gb card just as games are starting to work better with more.
Just stick to AMD or NVIDIA and for cpu get AMD unless you want to support Intel and their decade old 14++++++nm when AMD are already miles ahead and cheaper.
What people do not seem to notice is just how much Intel pays for a massive state-of-the-art chip from TSMC, just to not really compete at the low-end. This card is only really good 'value' for money (but not for general gaming) because Intel and partners are forced to sell them off so 'cheaply' since Raja, once again, failed to meet all of his engineering goals.
