I was thinking of wiring this up to a car battery discretely hidden in my pocket to get longer use out of it.

Haha I might try wiring a 9v battery in there to get abit more heat 8-)

Good idea but I bet they knock the granny out of the battery. Also like above poster said a D cell is humongous. Could be classed as an offensive weapon if I had one of these stuffed down my gloves whilst working the doors oO

Very good point lol, maybe on the wrist part. Hmm
Could be a bit strange feeling.

I want to get them for my other half but unsure if she would like them.
Also clueless on size lol, guessing small though

Expensive to run and I doubt rechargeables will last long.

haha, id rather have nice warm hands and abit of weight training at the same time than a trip to the hospital to get them meroved!

As 'D' batts are expensive compared to the smaller one, you could get a 'A' to 'D' converter off ebay or somewhere (ebay.co.uk/itm…196?pt=UK_ConsumerElectronics_Batteries_SM&hash=item3a5ea94ac4), obviously it won't last as long but would be cheaper in the long run with all the Alkaline 'A' batt deals at the mo'....

Good price but unsure about the huge battery.

Huge battery is putting me off, good price though

I have these, they are far from discrete! The D sized batteries leave huge lumps on the back of your hand and the quality of the heat is just as good as the body heat you'd keep in off standard thinsulate gloves, so IMO, a poor product at a suited price!

Was just about to order until I saw the battery size... Wowzers lol
  21. chromosome17's avatar
but how hot do they get?
  22. deleted148805's avatar
I got some last year from Clas Ohlsen for about 15 quid. They heat the fingers as well and use three AAs so smaller. I used them when we went skiing and they were great.

Great post! heat added for making me laugh quite hard.

Creating heat takes a large amount of power - hence the large cell. The motorcycle ones consume about 10W each. The best alkaline D-cell is about 30Wh so that would go flat in 3 hours.
