I don't think HUKD is just a site for broke people. My partner and I do quite well money wise, but we still like to save money on things. If you have money, what stops you looking for a good deal? When wealthy people buy car insurance do you not think they look for the best deal (as an example)?

Only if you have the 30K at the moment £100 is a lot for me.....

Always look on the bright side of life my friend, I'm sure you have your health and that means a hell of a lot more than money.
I do alright for myself but never take anything for granted in life, times are hard for people and you never know what's round the corner. Tomorrow I could lose everything and be living on the street.
Plenty second hand cars on the market, no need to buy a new one you lose to much money anyways.

Nice car - but still looses another 8 or 9K in the first year!

The cheapest one year old 530d on Autotrader is £29,500. If you can find one for £22k then buy it.

The two ways I use are:

    Divide the cost by 5

    or

Divide the cost by 100 then multiply that number by 20

I work for a BMW main dealer and as much as it is a great saving here please don't think you can't acheive something like this yourselves by actually going direct to a dealership. Drive the deal are brokering the deal which in turn means they will earn from your business, why not deal direct yourself - get better customer service, probably quicker delivery and the satisfaction that you made the deal happen. I know there are strict rules on here about advertising but as much as this is an amazing deal, you should have a go yourself.

Love the look of the Msports, absolutely hate the ride though. Too firm for everyday roads and that's coming from someone who used to run Spax (aka scaffold bar) suspension on his car back in the day. Around bumpy corners the BMW's are just too skittish for my liking. Softer suspension actually allows you to progress with more pace.

Surely regardless of how depreciation is calculated or if it is a matter … Surely regardless of how depreciation is calculated or if it is a matter of VAT loss or not, buying a car for £9k off list price means you are limiting your losses and getting to drive a very good car for a year at least. Seems strange people would prefer to be negative about a very good discount on a luxury item, than see it for what it is, approx. 25% off a luxury car. If this was a IPAD then this would be £300 and equal 3000 degrees (minus the android trolls cold votes). So I can only guess that the negatives re:- depreciation, is simply jealous or trolling.

This BMW doesn't run Android? COLD! My Skoda is running a daily build of CyanogenMod that I found on XDA and apart from the wheels falling off when I turn on the windscreen wipers everything is great.

i hate the way any high tickets items on HUKD turns into an US vs them thread. Dare i say it, the arguments are always started by those who dont claim to have any money/wealth/income whatever you'd like to call it. Verges on the ridiculous. Some have money in the bank, some dont. get over it.
  28. trigger_andy's avatar

I, and Im sure many others too mark items hot or cold on the DEAL regardless if we intend to by the item or not. Let me put it in your price range. If a tin of 10p baked beans is on offer at 8p Ill mark it a hot deal: I have no intention of ever eating or buying 10p Baked Beans but there you go. You clearly cannot afford this car and thats ok. Maybe you are lazy, maybe you never applied yourself at school on Uni r maybe you are just unlucky in life in general. Whatever the reason surely the Chip on your shoulder is not blinding you to the fact that almost 25% off an item is a good deal?

    electrosham

I've gotta ask those giving this heat... You are buying the car right? I … I've gotta ask those giving this heat... You are buying the car right? I know, I know, silly question. Cheap as chips, how can one afford NOT to buy this car.

for most readers here we are talking Resale value after a certain period … for most readers here we are talking Resale value after a certain period of time. so there lose 20% (due to VAT) as soon as car driven off forecourt plus depreciaton dependent on age and the car

They don't lose 20% due to VAT, you're talking nonsense.

There's a loss because buyers will not pay as much for a nearly new car as they will for a new one (unless it's something with a waiting list). Also the dealer will need to make a sizeable profit margin on the sale. There is no direct correlation between VAT and depreciation.

Anyone worried about deprecation value should get a brand new dacia for £5995, that way the most it can ever depreciate is £5995, a lot of cars depreciate that much as soon as you become the registered keeper. My next car will be a dacia and I will change it every 3 years, even if I only get £2995 trade in after 3 years it is not a bad loss as that is less than £1000 per year. dacia.co.uk/veh…ro/

A "wreckless" driver is the best driver as it means they have never been involved in a wreck.

You would have to look elsewhere for a "reckless" driver

I rather think wealthy people have someone else sort out insurance for … I rather think wealthy people have someone else sort out insurance for them....

I suppose that would depend on your definition of a 'wealthy' person. My Dad probably earns close to 6 figures and I would consider him wealthy. However, he still shops at Asda and wears some George clothes. Furthermore, he uses Quidco and always looks to get decent deals when he goes on holiday. He works hard for his money and doesn't want to waste it. If there are two places selling a homogenous product, he will always go for the better value one.

I quite agree that the Wayne Rooney's of this world would certainly have someone else do it, but the majority of wealthy people want to hang on to their money. NOT line the pockets of car dealers.

Completely different class of car. Yes they'll both get you from A to B but if you do a lot of driving then the 207 really isn't an option.
