Had this and not impressed. It dispenses 250ml of boiling water and no way to set other amount. Not safe if you have young kids/children in danger of scalding.

You're not impressed that a Boil Hot Water Dispenser is dispensing it's intended boiled water? Surely young kids/children shouldn't be using a kettle to start with or have adult supervision?

On a side note, you've def. answered my question on whether this produces boiling hot water like a kettle or milder (edited)

I bought one of these 18 months ago and love it. Exact amount of water dispensed for a cuppa and saves money. Also excellent if you suffer with arthritis and can't lift a kettle (which I do). Wouldn't be without mine.

I bought one of these for my parents in their 70s they absolutely love it. It does only make a mug sized drink but if that’s what you want it for then it’s great.

I purchased one of these last year and from my experience, in my view, a flaw in this machine is that ALL the water is dispensed immediately after it boils i.e. we cannot control the amount of water output when using it. Whilst for £32 is a good price (I paid £40) but the lack of control makes it not very user-friendly.

I use a kettle, it doesn't dispense all the boiled water immediately and gives me lots of control.

I had one, stopped using it because the reservoir is tiny. You are constantly refilling it. No more convenient than a kettle, and more expensive. And as said above, you can't make a cup of tea or a pot, only a mug.

I was sceptical too. Inherited one when my mother went into a nursing home. When I'm in wfh b2b meeting this is a godsend as I can literally make a cup of coffee in <60 secs

Brilliant for me, as I'm the only person in the house most of the time and dispenses a perfectly sized cup of hot water for tea or coffee really quickly and efficiently. I've had mine for about 3 years now, use it multiple times a day, and actually inherited it from my grandmother when she went in to a home, so it's hard some hard use over the years! I now have it connected to a smart plug, and it's quite satisfying to say "hey google make tea" first thing in the morning

Looks great for single people who have no friends

I had the variable cup size, it was good but still often required two presses to fill a slightly large mug. Went back to a kettle as interim measure and 6 moths later am still using it.

I couldn't get rid of this thing quick enough. I sold a boxed barely used one for £15.

I moved to a Bosch Filtrino ii. (edited)

We’ve had one for about 4 years, we’re a family of four, and it’s kept on the work top and no way a danger to our kids, it’s great, my parents who are in their 70’s also have one and love it, ace for filling up the saucepans when cooking on the hob, as the saying goes, does what it says on the tin.

I have the slightly better model with a dial to control the amount of water you need.  I think it is fab.

My mum has the advertised version and I laughed at her, until I bought the one you mentioned (the dial version) and we've not used the kettle since!

In fact, we've got one for work as well.

So much more convenient than boiling a kettle.

    Money well worth spending IMHO.

I have the Breville VKJ318 with 2L tank and variable fill.
The thing no one has mentioned, is you can press the button and go about other things.
It boils, filled the cup and started brewing (essential for decent tea).
All you have to do ... is take out the bag et voila ...
That process takes further minutes off your day, especially if you drink 10 cups a day
Had them at work and they take some hammer. Does need a descaler every now and again but lasts much longer than the kettles it has replaced. Superb piece of kit and saves energy ta boot!

I should say I would not buy this model as the reservoir is 1.5L and the 2L version takes more refills than I would like and the lack of cup control would be annoying but depends if your cup size is exactly 250ml.
But the general idea is one you would not go back from.
