    Running cost?

At the energy price cap 29p this costs £0.58 for 1 hour. This wattage is similar to some ovens, hair dryers or large air fryers. For 12 hours (i.e a really cold day or you forget and leave it on it) costs nearly 7 quid. Yes the thermostat should cut the power when the room gets warmer but these are not very cost effective for any more than a few mins or boost. All the above is assuming its on the highest setting but if you use 750w it would be far more economical but its only going to be useful in small to smallish spaces not large living rooms in winter. The heat will also be a very dry heat overall. Good deal but my concern is that is might cost more to run in the long term than any savings you make on the retail price

It'll cost the same to run as ANY 2kw electric heater as electric heaters are virtually 100% efficient (ie electricity in is all converted to heat out). But electricity is around 3-4x the cost of similar energy from gas (albeit gas heating less efficient as some gets wasted up the flue). In most cases you'd be better off using the gas central heating unless you just want to heat one space for a short while. (edited)

Thanks for the post and everyone else involved. I don't know much about heaters and their running costs so I opted for the £7 one on the list; "white fan heater".

I respect my house rules where we don't put on the heating unless urgent and rely on closing doors and wearing layers. But I have poor circulation and hopefully this little device will kick-start my bodies thermal system!!

What’s better bang for buck in terms of heat output v bills as there are so many types of heaters (convection, oil-filled, electric) etc.

I prefer oil filled radiators, as they stay warm after turning them off, and they’re almost silent.

Healthwise, fan heater are bad. Am I correct? Portable oil filled radiators is any good?
