Yeah, alright, you already knew It's hardly the industries best kept secret.
But for those who don't, I'll proceed with what little information we currently have - it's not a lot, but it's something.
Warzone is set to be Call of Duty's first free title and will launch on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as a standalone, no purchase needed game. Rumoured to be a 150 Battle Royale (yay, another one), players will land, players will battle it out, and players will fight to earn victory by eliminating 149 other entrants.
A gimmick, everything needs a gimmick - something to set its self aside from all the other Battle Royale games, but more importantly it's own - Black OPS 4 (where we at now with BR titles? PUBG, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and they're just the popular ones...)
The answer? Gulag mode
Call of Duty: Warzone will set itself aside from the rest with Gulag mode, a second chance, if you like. Players who die in Warzone will be resurrected into a prison where they will fight it out in a 1v1 skirmish for the chance to be dropped back into the battle. The Gulag becomes available after a certain period of the game.
As it stands, that's pretty much all we know right now, if you're interested in seeing the game in action, check the link below for gameplay footage. I would expect this to be shut down quite quickly, though.
Now Officially announced

More details include:
- You will loot guns only, no attachments
- Two main game modes - Warzone and Plunder
- Vehicles include an ATV, SUV, Helicopter, Cargo Truck, and Tac Rover
- Everyone spawns with a pistol
- Completing bounties rewards cash
- The locations are: Dam, Miltary Base, Quarry, Airport, TV Station, Storage Town, Superstore, Boneyard, Train Station, Hospital, Downtown, Stadium, Lumber, Farmland, Prison (Gulag), Park, Port, Promenade East and West, Hills.
When you die, you are taken to a set of prison cells where you're pitted against another player in a Gunfight-like mode to see who can come out on top. As this plays out in real-time on the map, your teammates can issue callouts to you from outside the area and even throw rocks at your opponent. You will respawn if you're the victor, which is certainly an interesting take on the mechanic. The only thing which gives us pause is the presence of killstreaks, which don't seem like the fairest thing to have in a Battle Royale.

Oh seems a “special case” has been made for this (edited)
It's not a game update. You don't need to own COD MW. For those who don't own it, you get a standalone client.
Unfortunately that 3hrs "Early Access" will probably be spent downloading the game/update by most thanks to the fine ISPs we have here in the UK lol
But this style of gaming is killing the story mode in gaming industry
This started with survival games like Dayz (different genre but the "surviving a fight" idea is the same).
In Dayz you spent hours looking for loot and guns, and when you find one other player it's a "only one of us while be happy and the other will be disappointed" situation. Every fight you get into and win is very rewarding, not only for coming out on top, as well as taking the loot from the dead players.
Being the #1 in 100 or 150 players is also very satisfying.
That's my opinion.
Because people give it a chance and play for more than 10 minutes and find that it's actually fun?
Warzone will drop 150 players into one environment to play one of two modes: Plunder and Battle Royale. In Plunder, you'll have to collect the most cash by looting items on the map, stealing your enemies' money, and/or completing Contracts in-game.
Battle Royale is exactly the mode you think it is, but the shrinking "circle" will be in the form of encroaching gas (for realism's sake). Warzone will support cross platform play and progression, allowing you to form a squad of three across PS4, Xbox One, and PC. (edited)
Between 15-22GB download if you own COD:MW. Around 80-100GB if you don’t.
I disagree. There's amazing single player games out there and still coming out. The Last of Us 2, Ghost of Tsushima, Cyberpunk 2077 etc. and the ones already out. If anything, it's lazy cash grabs from EA and Activision that usually are responsible for that perception. Luckily there's a lot of games with solid story modes and MP too.
Lol oh I know that feeling well. Fortnite = delete
She literally didn't say she "gets excited to play it", she literally didn't say "she isn't very good at it" and only questioned why the genre is so popular which is clearly not any sort of positive statement. Why are you making observations that didn't happen up?
I then proceeded to explain why people find the game fun i.e. literally answering the question" Why is this genre so popular?". Remember? The one she asked?
Personal insult, what? Where are you getting that from? I'm quite bored of battle royale games personally, I'm only explaining to someone who admitted themselves they've barely played them why people find them good and stating that if people "only play them once" they probably aren't in a position to comment on them properly. There's nothing weirdly defensive about that in the slightest, which by the way is a bit rich coming from someone who fabricated what someone said in an attempt to defend them (edited)
Whoever owns COD MW gets access four hours before, at 3pm UK (after update it will appear in the "Classified Tab" in COD MW client) (edited)
I still play it every now and then just for fun.
But with these BRs, I get guns faster and don't need to worry about hunger, thirst or drinking poisoned water from ponds.
PUBG got this right with Karakin. (edited)
You just need to get better then
It's not just me then!
It's almost like people have different tastes right?
I asked the mods if free stuff was allowed in deals again but they did say they made a “special case” for this. Consistency isn’t a strong suit here (edited)
Battle royale games are good if you don't give up the first time you die and actually try to get decent. (edited)
dont like it, don’t play it.
don’t think it’s a deal, don’t vote or don’t comment.
you’d think this was being forced upon the world
Welcome to the latest CoD. Every week you’ll get a “stability” update and have to download 45GB.
Been gaming since the 1970s and console gaming since the Sega Master System. I don't need to up anything.
This is how I feel and I've never played one. I don't really want a game with no action and I leave annoyed!
