Not sure how everyone will feel about these, but the 12 string looks like a good entry point. The 6 string is the same price, but I see that more of one to go for if you really like it aesthetically. It's not my cuppa tea, personally, but then most guitarists are quire particular, so my opinion of aesthetics means nothing

Woulds the 6 string version be any good for a mate who's looking to learn? Plus she's a lefty and my other mate who makes guitars said she should just turn them upside down and restring them. (edited)

Also check that she is a true lefty!
You would be surprised how many "write with my left" but play regular right handed guitarists there are.

Ever notice that most orchestral stringed instruments don't have a left handed version? Guitar is a bit of an exception.

Anyone actually taken the plunge on this and received it yet? If so, what are your thoughts? I've managed to get a decent-ish trade-in price for my Epiphone DR-212 so am even more tempted than before!

I received mine about half an hour ago. I haven't had a chance to play it plugged in yet as I'm at work, but I'm really, really impressed with it. The setup on mine is also stellar. No fret buzz and nice action (though I'll test this more later). I bought a Cordoba Stage earlier this month for £600 and sent it back as the finish was so poor. This one beats that hands down.

The only negative is the tuning pegs are pretty uneven. The tuning ratio seems quite different for each.

Even if the electronics are junk (which hopefully they aren't), I've still got my money's worth. (edited)

Very good price for an electro 12 stringer and some of these Chinese guitars are pretty good. However, the couple of video reviews that I quickly watched made it sound very trebly, but that could simply be the recording quality. Think that I'll save up for a Seagull. (edited)

You don't need to save up, they're freely available everywhere although they don't make great pets to be honest.

I've gone for the 12 string.

I quite like the visual style & a well laminated 12 tends to have a good sound & is generally stronger than a solid top as they're far less susceptible to temperature & humidity shifts which can be a big issue on 12's, especially if you're concert tuned.

I do have a fairly decent, solid cedar top but it's a huge dreadnaut & I need to find the time to do some fairly significant work on it now to bring it back to it's best, so having a smaller pick up & play unit will be nice.

Oh, boy. Do not need, but am so tempted by that 12-string. I already have an Epiphone DR-212 but just find the dreadnought shape too unwieldy. Seriously considering getting rid and replacing it with this. (edited)
