sorted by- I'm having a hard time finding a reason not to buy.
I bank with halifax, you're not helping! - Is this worth upgrading to from the S2721DGF?The ppi would be worse on the 32 vs the 27. So the 27 is better with higher ppi and will be sharper.
32 should be 4k
27 1440p
24 1080p - Absolutely outstanding screen for the money - I bought one on Black Friday to replace an aging pair of 24" 1080p screens and don't regret it for an instant.
My PC use is 70% office admin, with occasional gaming. Obviously 165hz doesn't make any sense for Google Docs, but the size & 1440p means I can have 2 A4 PDFs open side by side without issue.
When I do play games, it's absolutely perfect - I grabbed the settings from this review.
I've turned Windows HDR off, but set the monitor's HDR on and it's usually very good (sometimes it's overly red with some sources like YouTube). It's also really easy to switch between settings from the Windows app, rather than fiddle with the monitors buttons. Backlight bleed is minimal (last pic is set to show it at absolute worst case scenario, but it's negligible with normal use).
Very tempted to pick up another!
Pics (temporary setup whilst I finish decorating my study):
That's my desk currently! So gives me a good idea of size overall how it would look... Now more tempted...pay day Friday 😁 - Ordered, looked at reviews and seems excellent for the money, especially IPS and 400 nits.
Will be selling my Huawei Mateview GT 27 inch 🤌FYI this is the equivalent of a 24 inch 1080p monitor. So going from your 1440p 27 inch to this 32 inch may look worse (I had a faulty 27 inch 1440p and was sent this as its replacement but soon returned it as it was too noticeable) (edited) - I don’t understand why anyone wouldn’t get a 4K screen as minimum for gaming (unless cost was a key factor) but they are around the same money? Is it purely for the better refresh rate? am I missing something…
Not saying this isn’t a good deal and may serve some well! 400nits is also good, will show the colours nicely.
I picked up 2 Acer Nitro VG280Kbmiipx for my work/home set up 2 years ago for £300 on a very deal, and they have been incredible for dual screen from my MacBook Pro, gaming on Xbox and PS5 more recently, ratchet and clank looks insane
So much nicer than gaming on a 28inch rather than before on a 55inch Sony 4K! (Just like the good old days on my 12inch tube tv )What kind of PC do you need to get 165hz at 4k? If you did have that type of PC you surely wouldn't be spending £298 on a monitor.
Edit: As a sidenote you can disable the blue LED strip if you find it offensive: Dell G3223D Monitor Firmware Update | Driver Details | Dell UK (Plug in via USB to update) (edited) - Author- maybe one for you
- not curved but you might like it as it is a fast IPS panel
- a bit higher price level than before, but you get much more as well for your money.
same as above
Its great monitor, but really too big for me. Otherwise will be all over it. Thanks for the heads up! - If only it had built in speakersDo people really use monitor speakers?
They are always awful!
It's a gaming monitor so they probably figured it's not worth putting speakers in as most owners will be using headsets or even decent external speakers. (edited) - My apologies if this has already been asked. What range of frame rates can be expected from the modern consoles on this display. Do both Xbox and PlayStation support 1440p, over 60 Hz, and VRR? Also, how about the Switch? (edited)I've had mine on my xbox series x. It does 1440p at 120hz and 4k upscale with a refresh rate of 60hz. I wouldn't recommend the 4k mode though as the frame rate drops quite a bit and is much smoother 1440p at 120hz
- Sure I'll be flamed to bugg3ry for asking, but what does this provide over a 4K television used for the same purpose, that would be both substantially bigger and cheaper?165hz, IPS, USB-C, height/swivel/tilt, picture-by-picture, picture-in-picture
- ohh tempting was thinking of a new monitor
- Here's an unboxing of the monitor.(edited)
- Be aware that 400 nits hdr is just about as good as no hdr, it's marketing to pull you into thinking you get the tech.
That said, not a bad price for a decent screen! There's forums saying it can push to 500 nits and more - Screen info here:
Screen is currently reaching 740 nits at peak brightness. HDR Calibrated. HDR400 is the Certification it's given - this is almost doubling that.mine got to over 1000 nits? surely not right. Tbh it was insanely bright at that setting - What a stinking deal just like the 27” 165Hz which came out couple of years back
- What watt is the usb c chargingEdit:
Someone else has said it's 90watts. (edited) - [deleted]It actually comes with a gsync sticker... its actually gsync verified... gpu will detect it as gysnc...
- Can I ask a really dumb question? What is the advantage of a USB-C set up on a monitor? Especially a downstream port?If your laptop has USB c it allows you to use one cable to both share the screen and charge the laptop.
- Not hdmi 2.1 unless missing something?2.1 is only needed if you r running 4k 120Hz, which the current monitor doesn't support so no point having it
- Was very very tempted... But really need a smaller screen (24 or 27 inch)... Can this please sell out asap so I don't... Thanks.Would you go for a 1080p 24" screen?
If so, these are great. Got one for my Nephew last year and picture quality/motion handling are excellent -
amazon.co.uk/Len…8-1
They usually don't stay at £130 for long.
I was actually the first person to leave an Amazon review for it, lol. (edited) - Ordered 3 days ago and came today... They still haven't taken the money out yet :/ looks great on my series S. However i plugged it into pc to download latest update and it keeps says the update is for a different monitor. I put the correct model code in and it says Dell 3223d...any ideas. Not sure if you have another monitor plugged in , but for me unless I unplugged the other monitor it's kept failing. When I had just 1 monitor plugged in all worked fine
- Hi think this was this a HUKD exclusive offer from the code - do you know if it's likely to be coming back in stock, as the deal is still active but showing 'Sold Out' online? thanks in advance!AuthorOh, sorry about that. Will ask that, however as far as I know this won't come back again.
- Update:
Downloaded drivers and new firmware. Calibrated colours to ones online forums recommended.
What an absolute treat. Vibrant colours, great motion handling, zero ghosting, beautifully bright and nice and crisp. Text not as sharp as my 27" 1440p but it's not all that noticeable.
Not tested HDR but I presume it will be very basic at this price point.
For £300 I'm ecstatic. Hopefully everyone else that took the punt are happy too
[image]AuthorLovely! Nice to see that. Thanks for the feedback. I personally still want the 42" OLED LG C2 for this price level and then I will have a new monitor Probably in 2035.... - Shame it’s not a 4K one with usb-cLol no chance at that price
- Any tips on how to tell the Mrs I've just ordered a new monitor?
This page will be the end of my relationship one of these days 🫣 voted hot though (edited) - not 4k. coldMy pixels will beat your vectors
- Struggling to reason why you would need a monitor with a refresh rate so far above the threshold of visual perception? Turns out we might be able to percieve more than 60hz, but not at a level we are conscious of. I guess you could make an argument for it in gaming? This is nonsense. I'm no twitch fps gamer but I can certainly tell 90hz from 60hz. Whether I could tell 165 from 144 hz Im not so sure, but I could tell either from 90hz too. I would first to agree that 280 or 360hz is not a product for me.
BTW even on the desktop it is visible.
Heck even on my iphone, when it goes to power saving mode and disabled high refresh rate to save battery its extremely noticable. - It's arrived and set up, just need to calibrate and good to go.
So far it's excellent, and although it could be brighter, for £300 it's a steal. - Woah, good deal!
Finally something different than 27inch 1080p deals
Remember you only have 14days for a return with Dell. Got spoilt by Amazon and realised it's too late for return for the last one I bought. (edited)Are returns free even after opening and testing it? - Shame this isn't 27"Is a 27” size the best for a monitor in your view?
- What's this software?
- Seems like no usb c charging/ power delivery?Edit: scrap what I said, it’s 90w
USB Type-C port on your Dell G3223D supports USB Power Delivery, Data, and DisplayPort video signal. The USB Type-C port can be used for video and data signal, and supply power (90 W) to a compatible laptop personal computer using a single USB Type-C cable that is provided with the monitor.
it’s under troubleshooting on the dell website. I’m in (edited) - Very, very tempted, but I'd have to buy 2.
Can't have this next to a 27", would drive me nuts! You do not want those driven. - Really find it hard to go back to flat monitors after going curved.
Have a 32” curved and looking at my sons FAB Dell 27” gaming monitor, whilst looking AMAZING, find it too wide and “far apartToo bad that you cant really get curved IPS monitors, because VA is complete trash IMO - Oh lord I may need to buy this, been toying with the gigabyte m32q for a while.
- If its not 4K then it's decay.
- Very good for the money
- How much RAM does this support?A small flock I reckon.
- if only 'twere 4k
- Can anyone tell me how this compares to the dell s2721dgfa? Other than the size.Yep second this comment. I was looking for another S2721DGFA deal after buying one last time it was posted here but this looks like its older (i.e. bigger) sibling. Advice welcome please! (edited)
- Lovely stuff
