    Hi All,

I have Methven Aio & Satinjet in all my bathrooms - really excellent showering experience - the Aio experience is slightly different to the Satinjet one - the Aio is a bit more gentler but soothing whilst the Satinjet is a tad more invigorating. I have tried nearly every single Methven shower head & there is a difference in performance in the Satinjet models - I would strongly advise getting the Waipori over the other Satinjet models but they are all good.

Having good water pressure really does help the experience & to help aid performance & flow, take out the plastic flow limiter inside the shower head(s) - really makes a difference.

I bought them for all my family members & even have a few spare! They are cheap plastic though so do not expect Hans Grohe or Aqualisa level of quality!

    Thanks!

The Methven Satinjet Kiri can be had on ebay for 16.99 delivered (less if you order more). I only mention it as delivery with Homebase can be expensive if your local store doesn't have the item in stock.

Can these just be connected to a normal shower?

Yes should just fit in for your standard shower, useful video here:

Would you say the white vs chrome makes any difference in the quality feel? Also, does the showering experience feel more premium than the Satinjets or is it just a design premium that we're paying?

    Hi,

As far as colour goes, it makes no difference as to quality so just go with what suits your shower best.

Having owned all the various Satinjet models (including discontinued ones) from the current range, The Waipori for some reason gives a much better experience - no idea why as the number of microjets is the same so with Satinjet, go for the Waipori.

The showering experience between the Aio & Satinjet is subtle but noticeable - Aio is a tad more gentler & soothing but still very enjoyable. The Satinjet is a tad more vigorous & really feels refreshing. I use Satinjet in the mornings & Aio in the evenings!

In my downstairs bathroom, I have a Waipori Head & a large Aio Overhead Shower Drencher so I can alternate between the two! In case any here might also have an overhead Drencher option, the Aio is much better than the square Satinjet Drencher which was not that impressive tbh.

These systems work better the closer you are so I suspect the greater distance from an overhead diminishes the effect.

In my upstairs shower, I have both an Aio & Satinjet Waipori & alternate between the two when I feel like it - just keep one in the shower caddy tray - why not try both - at these prices it is not too big an ask!

On another note that makes a huge difference (on any shower) is to use a proper Wide Bore Shower Hose & not the usual 8mm crap that most showers come with these days - you want a hose that has an INTERNAL Bore of 11mm or 12mm - that is the biggest bit only a few brands make them.

I use the Aqualisa Wide Bore hoses as they are the biggest & the quality is outstanding - had some over 24 years & still going strong! A little pricey well worth it!

So to get the best out of Methven Heads (make sure you do not get the low flow heads designed for electric showers) is to:

Have good water pressure, good water flow, remove flow limiter inside shower head & get a Wide Bore Shower Hose!

You really do not want to get out of the shower then!

    Thanks! (edited)

Hang on - just looked up some reviews on Amazon at the expensive Aurajet one and was shocked to see it's not even metal and is just cheap plastic. Alot of people saying it dribbles down the handle etc. People also saying you need high pressure water for it and that their customer services is terrible

They're water saving. There's a small plastic reducer at the bottom of the handle. It'll block the flow enough to overheat an electric shower. It can be popped out with a screwdriver.

Can't beat a Hans Grohe. If ever I stay at someones house and I see Hans Grohe on their shower equipment, I know these are quality people and I'll refrain from peeing in their shower and go properly in their Villeroy & Bosch toilet.

Bought the Kiri off eBay, and there is a Rua (square) Aurajet on Amazon at just under £40.

And to think an hour ago if someone had asked me what I thought Methven was, I would’ve guessed it was some kind of narcotic.

The Maku is very good for mixer taps, even works if you're just using gravity and no pump

I've actually got two of these, the small one is better than the big one if you have an electric shower. More concentrated, big one a bit weak.

Neither as powerfull as those cheap Chinese ones with the brown beads in, they rust though.

Doesn’t white vinegar strip the chrome finish?

No, these are plastic heads anyway

First experienced the satinjet waipori at a Hilton hotel. Really loved the experience bought on for the house. These do need a good shower pressure to get the best experience either electric or combi mains pressure or open vented system. Doesn't work as well with gravity fed system.

Those Ionic ones with the mineral beads are best, Amazon sell them for about £10 but you can get them for less than half that on ebay. They don't last that long though as they rust, but they do give you a concentrated, pretty powerful blast.

Our shower is a Mira sport but one of the less powerful ones (like 700w.) at higher temps the pressure coming out isnt amazing. Would the Aurajet still provide benefits such as better presure from the shower head even if the pressure behind it isnt all that?

I found the aura jet is much better than the usual shower heads, don't know why but it just seems to cover a lot more area, and feels nicer on the skin.

They are usually very expensive, with the discount they still seem expensive, but worth the price (in my opinion) (edited)

Managed to get a couple of Satinjet heads from the water saving site a few years ago, for a steal. Sadly no longer available, bit still worth paying for I reckon. They turn a normal shower into something awesome, even with little pressure. The flow reducer can be removed which makes them even better.
