DEEPCOOL GAMMAXX 400 CPU Cooler (AM4 compatible) £16.79 @ Amazon Prime / £21.28 non-Prime
Found 5th DecFound 5th Dec
Cheapest it's been on Amazon. Similar/better performance than the Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo.

One more question...I see it comes with a sachet of thermal paste, do you reckon it's decent enough or should I fork out for Arctic MX-4 instead?

Back to £21.59

Thanks Aretak, not looking to overclock initially but possibly further down the line. It's noticeably quieter then though? That's big plus of it is as trying to build an ultra silent rig.

Depends on whether you're overclocking or not. This should allow you to push the 1700 further if you are, but it should be quieter at least either way.

How much better is this than the stock AMD Wraith Spire 95w cooler that comes with the Ryzen 7 1700? I've ordered this (because HUKD makes you do impulsive things! (shock) Damn you HKUD! ) but debating whether it was unnecessary, and the stock cooler is good enough?

I have an older PC in my living room, it's using a 5 year old refurbished Corsair h100 lol. No problems with it. Didn't get a refurbished one for my new PC though.. far too expensive now

brand new cost 15 pounds more on amazon and you get Corsair guarantee if anything went wrong and leak, they will pay for damaged components, good luck with that on scan

I don't see a problem if it's a factory refurb, which Scan's refurb items are, and buying a secondhand AIO would be much riskier if its history was unknown. One thing worth noting though is the difference between new items and refurbs, I bought a refurb Corsair H80i-V2 from Scan this time last year and while it was tested, functionally fine and warrantied, the cosmetic condition wasn't 100%. If the cosmetic condition is important, buy new.

If you can live without Link, the H100x is a better buy. Brand new, cheaper and supports AM4 out of the box. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07B68T46Q/

Currently having issues returning my second faulty unit to Corsair. They promised me a different model instead sent me the refund h100i v2. Been without a working pc now for well over a week because of this and customer support currently seems non existent. Honestly losing faith in them

I installed the Noctua NH-D15 Premium... really pleased with it. Nice and quiet and completely tamed my 8086k which is running a 5.2 ghz overclock (not delidded) on 1.3 volts. Didn't even bother opening the two corsair aios which i will now be sending back.

I like the idea of liquid cooling, hell if I had the balls I'd have a crack at a custom loop but the more I am honest with myself the more air cooling seems the best way to go. Liquid looks better IMO and takes longer for it to heat up (and thus is warmer for longer when you turn off). But air is cheaper and much safer in the very small chance an aio leaks. Building a first PC from scratch is a steep learning curve I've learned.

now starting to doubt my decision to go down the AIO path... have two Corsair coolers sitting on my desk: CORSAIR Hydro Series H115i PRO Liquid CPU Cooler & Corsair H100i v2 However, from researching online it seems the Noctua NH-D15 Premium CPU Cooler with 2x NF-A15 PWM 140mm Fans is pretty much just as good at cooling and possibly even quieter... Its cheaper too! approximately £80 at amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00L7UZMAK/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A38F5RZ72I2JQ&psc=1 Granted it is ugly... and BIG... but probably easier to mount in my case (CM 690ii) and will sit under my desk so i dont care about the looks... just the cooling and sound... Anyone here have a good reason to go for the AIO option other than looks? Couple of really interesting vids below: The Noctua NH-D15S to the Corsair H115i. Air VS AIO. Who will win? Apparently its a tie!

very good AIO cooler, although I opted for the triple fan 150i model, very impressed with the very low db and cooling.

gamaxx are a very budget brand I have a gamaxx 120 which I have yet to fit ... after reading up it gets ok reviews , not stellar BUT I only paid £35 for it , they also do a 240 rad version . I would prefer it to be quieter rather than cooler. They're part of the deepcool .. just checking and the prices seem to have gone up, a bit £40 for 120, 80 for 240

I bought mine from Amazon also about 2 months ago & it had the new bracket.

they must have added additional bracket, mine, bought 2 months ago on amazon doesn't have one

Cooler master lists the heat sink as 160mm but total height as 163mm. Looking at it the fan mounts will be where the extra height comes from. I’d leave it purely because it doesn’t fit. If it was a perfect fit, grab it. You do not need air flow over the top of a heat sink, the majority of cooling is done by the fins and heat pipe lengths. An over sized cooler is way more capable than a stock cooler. That last 2-5% at the top will never make or break it. As for general case air flow, if sticking a cooler in a case impedes to to the point that 5mm clearance at the top is critical, you’ve made a few errors long before that. Have a wee look at this

No it doesn't!! These now come with the latest AM4 mount so can mount both ways either with fans blowing bottom to top or from front to back.

i wouldn't go for that size of the cooler regardless due to too little clearance to the wall, you are looking for free flow of the air within the case, having 2mm space won't give you that.

A friend gave me his old ATX i7, mobo and 16Gb ram. Yesterday, after days of looking at cases and aio cpu coolers - I used an amazon voucher. Yesterday. My only cosolation is this is Micro-ATX. Thank christ! This evening I'm going to find out the mobo I was given is dead...! :D Good deal OP!

microatx form factor, not full atx.

I left it after the price increased... then got a reminder as I'd put it in my basket... at the lower price! I wonder if I'll get the cooler.

Price has increased by the time I got to PayPal to checkout. Also no mention of the free cooler in the order screen (like other offers on their site). Looks like the deal is over

I'm not sure why it says it comes with a free cooler, it's not mentioned anywhere on the website that comes with a free cooler?

I have recently upgraded to a GTX 1080, and let me just say, it isn't even close!

The Scorpio engine on the Xbox one x is equivalent to a gtx 1080 so what’s your point about specs?

Yes. Considerably more than you do I'm sure. Take a look at the actual specs for this and then look at your console and you will see why this is more expensive and has larger power requirements.

Ah no worries bro. Fair enough ;) have a good day dude

My mistake, I was thinking of NCIX.

The NZXT G12 mount really is your best bet for cooling a GPU with a bog standard AIO. They’re not that expensive and the compatible with most AIOs that use the Asetek pump.

Just wondering if you can use it as a stand-alone super cool fan?

LGA 1150 and 1151 are exactly the same size and have the same HSF mounting holes, this will fit with no problem.

Is English your first language? If not, then no worries. If it is, have you tried reading what you actually typed out? You say it's not a 1151. Then say that the 1151 is the most recent Intel socket, but then that it's old stock (skeptical)

I suspect your own comment takes that prize . Def old stock . (highfive)

That makes more sense than the Amazon listing. Thanks

Well, I looked into it. "Lite" does not mean white lights but these two are the same cooler with different lights. http://www.coolermaster.com/product/Lines/cpu-liquid-cooler/ This is their full range. So the models are MasterLiquid Pro, MasterLiquid and MasterLiquid Lite; in order from higher to lower range. This deal was for the ML240*L* which is the Lite one. So yes, the amazon link is the cheaper one for the same cooler with white lights.

The lite has white leds (Lite=Light) The RGB has Red Green and Blue leds hence why I said "white" the sink, tubes and fans are still black

It's a slightly different model unless I'm mistaken. It's a Cooler Master MasterLiquid Lite. Not sure if that makes a difference

most of the air coolers gives you more performance than this and this one has potencial to leak or water pump go down

Remember and this especially applies to retailers "in trouble" that sometimes they buy stock from the manufacturer without any warranty/support so they get a discount. Don't always assume you're covered.

It's about £24 on Amazon with a great returns policy. Why would anyone buy from Maplin right now??

Got it 18 when they had the extra 20% off last weekend

you can still return if faulty, and long term cooler master will support you better than Maplin ever would can't argue about the 2nd point but there could always be stock elsewhere

Not much cheaper than buying from amazon and no returns, doesn't really make sense trying to find one in maplins now, especially if there's only 1 left in chester

Ok thanks I will have a look. Lets hope my new MSI board is better at dealing with overclocking than it was setting it up....... Built plenty of PC's before with ASUS boards never had an issue. Almost pulled whats left of my hair out with the MSI !!.

Would agree with the Youtube method really, it's not as hard as it sounds though, it can just take some patience while you're working up in increments to get a decent stable OC. Main problem is, no one can say "set this to that, move this there and boom 4.7 OC!" Even the exact same model CPUs will OC differently, but that's just how it is. Some motherboards have software which can be useful as well, although I prefer to get stuck into the BIOS myself.

Yeah I almost went for a 1700 until the price drops before he second gen we’re released. I’m still at stock speed, u know of any guides to OC for a dummy like me. I use it everyday for work so all speed bumps help

Oh nice, I went with the 1700 and gave it an OC, really impressed. Been on Intel since I can remember, so fancied a change. Impressed!

I kept the stock fans but setup multiple rpm profiles in the bios based on the CPU temps. I get idle 30-40 at very low spin speed so pretty much silent. Then it ramps up when temps hit 60 which has been quite rare. I've left voltage at stock and done a 10% OC. If you want very quiet go for maglev's although they are a bit pricier than stock ball bearing fans

Installed mine now, great cooler in terms of it cools well, but the coolermaster fans are pretty loud under load. What fan's are folks using with this in order to reduce the noise?

All installed looks really good and so far only slightly louder than my case fans. Running nice and cool as well with a small overclock to 4.4.

Item has now sold out. Whoever went for it enjoy the bargain!
