From my understanding, USB 2.0 will not support 1Gb of data transfer as it is limited to 400Mbps - so only 10 & 100 Mbps. You will need a USB 3.0 dongle instead to cope with a 1000 Mbps connection. Good deal though for a 5pk of dongles where gigabit speed is not needed.

480Mbps is the max so if it was 10/100 then you would lose 380Mbps so they should really say 10/100/480.

This is still ok to add capability for a 200Mbps internet connection, for example, where a laptop has a 100Mbps built-in Ethernet port. Yes, it won’t give 1Gbps throughput, but up-to 480Mbps will be fine for some.

It won't get much past 270mbit total, there's too much overhead. Our 5G connection has hit 800+mbit but the USB2 tether throttles downloads around 270 max and that's really the combined up+down usable bandwidth.

BTW this happens with USB hard drives as well.

Can this be used to connect USB printer to router? Thanks.

Don't think so, you need a usb print server

if i use this on my firesticks will it slow down the rest of my 1000mb network?
ie does the network run at speed of slowest item as in these
    deleted2843594's avatar
No, and this won’t connect to a firestick.

Thanks ordered, good for Raspberry Pi Zero's and similar, I've got 3 diff ones I bought a few years back that were all supposed to be USB 2.0/100mbps and all ended up being usb 1 and under 10mbps, so these will be a big improvement either way, I have 900mbps fibre but most people don't so even at up to 480mbps it's more than enough for firesticks etc too.

Can anyone confirm that these will work with none computer devices? I got a usb3 one to connect my Sony android tv to it a while ago and it didn't even recognise it. (For some reason most modern tvs have 10/100 ports and not the faster 1000, so I was hoping to get round that)

It also didn't work with a WiiU. It works with my macbook air m1 with an adapter and the speed vs the WiFi is noticeable. But this was a usb3 version I got.
