Update 1
Price Drop £181.60 - 18/09

And another price drop to £177.
Further price drop to £181.60 (originally posted at £184).

Good deal for older model, comparable with the current Forerunner 255 Music (which is generally around the £280 mark, which does have some improvements to GPS - see here for a comparison). Only available at this price in this colour; others still >£280.

Anyone know where I can find a review of this? Looking for a daily wear watch that gives notifications, tracks steps etc with a decent battery

This have music? Not in title but description says so?
    SJQ's avatar
    Yes, it has music

Sorry if its a stupid question but would this be any good for mountain biking?
    sashforth's avatar
I don't know how good it is, but Mountain Biking is one of the built in activities. Probably best to have a read of the DC Rainmaker review linked to by J9STL earlier. His reviews are almost like tutorials.

Does this show HRV levels? I cannot find it anywhere.....

Not according to this. HRV is a really useful metric. Best indicator of a bad night's sleep.

    Amazing price for this

This looks like a fantastic deal - usually you only get deals for the 245music around this price, so getting a better watch (745 has a number of better features) at this price point is quite a steal.

as stated the 255music is very similar to this in terms of features (GPS is better in the 255music + its just a bit newer etc)... however given the price difference this is an easy recommendation!

Awesome deal thanks. Was looking for a Garmin watch for my Mam for her 70th birthday which had music and Garmin Pay so this is perfect!

    colour aside... question is:

Garmin forerunner 245 music or 745?

I'd say definitely go for the 745, similar money but lots more features

    choices:

this 745 or the 245 music for £22 less
    Gorskar's avatar
Both great deals - the 745 has a few extra features such as NFC for contactless payments, and a built in compass and barometer. 745 has a triathlon mode, that is missing on the 245. Battery life looks to be slightly better on the 245, but not much in it.

    Full comparison.....

For me I'd probably pay the extra £22 for the 745, but its up to you!

This is a grat price - Just wish they had it in black for the same price.

    Any deals in black?

    Swap the strap?

Does the battery actually last one week?
    bowditch14's avatar
Probably, as long as you don't use the GPS feature. This will drain it quicker.

Need to upgrade from my soon to be dead Tom Tom
If I upgrade to a basic Garmin, is there any risk they will stop support?
I know some of the older models have been around a few years now
    seblog's avatar
Stop support for firmware updates?, very likely at some point in the future for every watch.
Stop support to upload activities on Garmin connect portal? ...very unlikely as Garmin has million devices relying on it and I don't see it abandoning the sport industry like TomTom did

Cracking watch at this price. Not missing much.

Worthwhile upgrading from a Forerunner 230? I feel like I don't need this but I want it
    Danny_Cherry's avatar
Same here, my 245 is a brilliant watch, but I do like the idea of running without carrying my phone with me.

Have one.... Brilliant watch.... Fantastic price. (edited)
    Danny_Cherry's avatar
Is the music function easy to use? I use YouTube Music and Spotify on my phone currently, so be good to have these without the need to carry my phone.
  17. Danny_Cherry's avatar
Very tempted to get this, anyone sold their 245 on eBay recently? Just wondering how much I'd get so I can justify buying a new watch that I want rather than need
  18. akustics's avatar
    Support spotify?
    SJQ's avatar
    Yes

Im looking at my first Garmin smart watch, this looks tidy price for what i use it for. Like the colour too. But i also seen the Garmin forerunner 255 on offer for 45 quid more than this price. Cant make my mind up, 255 is better upgrade, than this one. Dont mind justifying that price. Im a fitness guru, and link my strava to my phone on every workout i do, mostly cycling, some running, hikes, weight training plus more. Be handy having something decent and easier than using my smartphone every time. But can't justify price the 600 prices and up for top feature ones.
    SJQ's avatar
255 is the newer watch, better HRM, better GPS, better battery life, still getting updates and features. No music on the 255 unless you opt for the Music version, which is quite a bit more.

    How long do they last?

Or do they fail in around 6-9 months like fitbits do ?
    brochan-lom's avatar
I've had a few Garmin watches, almost 5 years old, still working fine. Maybe battery wearing out a bit, but OK for most running, charge every few days or so.
