i don't understand all fuss with halfords sets. here there are at least 19 useless imperial sockets that 99% of people are not going to use but just to carry around. why?

I have a very similar set that is 10 years old also, used regularly. High quality stuff and this is a great price for it, you won't regret it.

the imperial ones fit older Ford's

I have an older Ford, does anyone know of a socket set that will fit?

if it's lifetime warranty you are better to get a replacement socket.

ok, i get about old fords, shame i don't have one

Brilliant price online. Absolute bargain at this price.

I don't know how to use tools such as these properly, but when I saw this deal I got strangely excited. It must be a primal male instinct. I can't work out why but I want to buy this. The words Chrome vanadium steel are bringing a sweat to my brow just pondering the mere thought of gripping one of these shiny tools in my hands. Do you think I will get arrested for kicking in the doors of Halfords at this time of night?

Good deal good price good gear plus you cannot beat life time guaranty

Still means that the metric ones cost less than £1:60 each. Beat that!

Not many older Fords around - most seem to go to the scrapyard after about ten yrs

Fool, I`m a service engineer working on various ships and you would be surprised how frequent the imperial sizes are required. Sigh kids these days!.

A lot of people have classic cars/bikes and therefore need imperial tools. Not every deal will meet everyones requirements, but a deal is a deal, if it does not meet your particular needs don't vote it cold just for that.

remember you must keep the receipt for the life time, to get the life time guarantee.

These tools are a good deal though i think the 150 piece sets which are often also on offer are better value, i have two of those and the quality is excellent for the price. Definitely consider either ordering online though or at least scanning your receipt as printed receipts don't last very long (the thermal printing that i seem to remember they use often fades to nothing after a few years). Not all stores seem to ask for proof of purchase (yet) bit would be very annoying to not have it if you needed it, and i think they are generally tightening up on the warranty service.

Get the 150 piece one, quality piece of kit made by Sykes and Pickovant.

Just reserved, I have about 4 or 5 sets but they all have some sockets missing, trouble with farm maintenance you lose them before you break them

I still have the receipt for a tool set that I bought in about 1980! Keep it in the box.
In the good old days the boxes were metal.
I hate to think what would happen to this lot if it were accidentally dropped on the floor.

Are you still bitter nobody took to your deal all those years ago?

hotukdeals.com/vou…538

Perfect for me and my series 3 Land Rover which has a mixture of imperial and metric bolts. Heat added reserved to collect later today.....

Why would you need a receipt if you it is halfords own brand and has a lifetime guarantee ?

Its not like you bought them from elsewhere is it

A bit like Go Outdoors price promise, if you find it cheaper elsewhere we will refund you 10%, its their own products that only them sell LOL

Anyway, good deal

So if you are a service engineer and work on ships you will need this set.
Now if you are from the 99% of people that are not service engineers, do not work on ships and do not have classic cars, you will have a set with 19 useless sockets.
But the over 200 piece metric only set from LIDL for just £69.99, much better value.
You could also use the £5 off voucher and you get the best set for the money on the market.
3 years warranty as you expect from LIDL.

well said this is same point I have made several times !!!. but I think sometimes vote cold because can't understand principles of "hot uk deals". clues in "name" people's !!

glad halfords are honouring their lifetime guarantee. i bought a snap on screwdriver in 1984 for £10.45 (was only earning £25 per week a t the time). it snapped two years ago. i still had the receipt but when i tried to get it replaced i was told it had broken in the wrong place.

Fathers day present sorted, online price agreed to be paid for in store.. bargin..

the lifetime thing with receipt doesn't make much sense to me either.. its says Halfords on it...

is the lidl offer still on ? my store seems to have run OOS unfortunately

Remember quidco too.
I presume there's no trade discount on top of this thanks to the "online only" thing?

After my socket set disappeared and being a bit broke, I've ordered myself one of these:
ebay.co.uk/itm…385
Which I think is a much better selection than the Halfords set.
The imperial stuff always annoys me.

However, I could do with tools before it arrives, so tempted by the Halfords set - then hopefully not lose out selling on ebay after, or if I have money at that point, keep it as a car/house set (though I know it'll frustrate me with the limited range of sizes).

Also - scan/picture your receipt, stick it in drop box/drive etc.
Then I normally try and find somewhere on the case to fold it up and stick the original or a printout.

And... I definitely reckon the 120 is better value at £60 than the 150 at £100 - sockets go up to the same size for normal ones.
I don't like the non-flexi head ratchet spanners, given the choice. The extra bits can be bought for not much.

The 170 piece set I reckon could be better, providing you're stuck on Halfords - at least it goes up to the standard 32mm for sockets. And while all the spanners are non-flexi ratchet, at least there's a bigger range :|.

Not going to use? 11mm = 7/16 13mm = 1/2 14mm = 9/16 17mm = 5/8 19mm = 3/4, so not totally worthless. I have the 170 piece, nice finish good weight - Mine are used idaily in a workshop - the a/f set I use on a couple of classics (Triumph Spitfire and Morris Minor) owned by friends
