Looks a good spec for the price. £529.99 at John Lewis
Any thoughts on build quality on these cheaper HP laptops compared to say a Huawei?
Believe RAM is upgradable on this, but the keyboard isn't illuminated

CORRECTION - JUST CHECKED WITH HP - THEY SEEM TO HAVE GONE THE HUAWEI ROUTE AND UNLIKE OUR OLDER RYZEN 3 LAPTOP, THE RAM IS SOLDERED AND NOT UPGRADABLE

We have bought 2 or 3 PC's direct from HP in the past without issue

  • Windows 11 Home
  • AMD Ryzen™ 5 5500U
  • 8 GB RAM
  • 256 GB SSD
  • 35.6 cm (14 "), FHD (1920 x 1080), 250 nits
  • AMD Radeon™ Graphics

30% off accessories when purchased at same time

    Any laptop experts/nerds able to advise on wifi cards? I see this has a Realtek RTL8821CE-M 802.11a/b/g/n/ac (1x1) Wi-Fi® and Bluetooth® 4.2 combo[14] which I presume isn't wifi 6?

I'm torn between two other laptops at the moment, one with "Qualcomm QCA61x4A 802.11ac Dual Band (2x2) Wireless Adapter", one with "Intel Wi-Fi 6 AX200 2x2 .11ax 160MHz + Bluetooth 5.0". Anybody able to advise what this difference is, which is better? I've tried googling but, well, it's all quite confusing!

The Realtek RTL8821CE is not WiFi 6 but WiFi 5.

    The Qualcomm is WiFi 6.

6 is newer and backwards compatible but your WiFi router needs to support WiFi 6 for you to fully benefit.

Did read them and not all bad, but you pays your money and takes your choice.
Our "budget" HP laptops have been fine - the last being a Ryzen 3 from Currys
