HP IE's spec breakdown implies dual 4gb modules, numerous other sites state it's replacable but yet to track down service manual to confirm.

It's fixed RAM in a dual channel configuration not user replaceable.

If you get one of these, check the hinges aren't misaligned. I had to return one when I noticed and the shop initially claimed that I must have damaged it. It seems to be a not uncommon problem.
