sorted byDon't even scan it...download pdf claim form,
upload to pdfescape.com or similar,
complete form with dodgy mouse squiggle for autograph - you'll need to have received the server before sending as you need the serial no. of the sexy little box itself
Save finished work of art...
Before some folk panic, you don't actually get a proper invoice from Amazon which the claim says you need, so go into your order summary in your amazon account for this item and print to pdf.
Then, compose a lovely email to the nice folks at the promo company handling the cashback claims - promotions@out-bound.co.uk
and attach both the completed pdf claim form AND a pdf of the order summary.
Took all of 5 mins, then wait for said wedge to arrive at su casa.
Dunno what some peeps are making the box do but mine is sssssilent! I have to put my ear to the box to hear anything ?!
A little bit of disk noise when booting but that's over in a flash, much like other things in my house X)

Don't bother - he's obviously not done and research or used one (LOL at the psu comment with four drives - mine's got five). The only negatives I can find for these at all is the lack of proper wake/sleep and the fact I keep wanting to buy another

You can have as many servers as you want on your network, they will all have separate IP addresses.
No reason why not X)
I have one of these and it's not silent though. I'm not sure I'd want it near a telly. Best to use it for its intended purpose and stream media off this onto a device like a Pi.

LOL
After the cashback, mine cost me < £200 for the unit, the extra RAM and a brand new copy of WHS2011. Can you find or build something with the same small form factor, that can run 5 HDD's, draw such little power, be so quiet and yet do all of the things I've listed above for the same or less?
The reason these deals keep appearing is because once people have one of these machines, I doubt very few are unhappy with their purchase.

Yes, to end of Nov 2012, then no doubt renewed again after that...
Thanks. Ordering. OP thanks aswell. Heat
Glad it helped
No, that is from PreisCompany and is likely not eligible for cashback.
£202 is from a marketplace company and as that company has a German name then its unlikely to qualify for cashback. Orders from Amazon itself do get cashback (I did).
No!
Thanks for the reply Rheumatoid - but are you saying "no" you cant add two servers or "no" there is no reason why you cant add two servers?
thanks
Matt
get a raspberry pi :-)
Define "playback"?
Mine streams to a Mede8er using home plugs if that is the sort of thing you mean.

from what I read when I bought mine you will need to upgrade the card for it to do this. It will obviously stream 1080 content if your network is fast enough to be ? transcoded (I'm no expert!) by another device.
please tell me that it doesnt matter that this is supplied by .EU rather than .UK
hope not, always time to cancel i guess
If your email acknowledgement does not contain the exact phrase "Sold by: Amazon.co.uk", then it is unlikely you will be eligible for the cashback.
From what I have read the onboard graphics will do 1080p BUT there is no sound card, you could add a USB sound card or do what everyone else does and add a proper PCI Express card. I bought an Asus ATI 6450HD (low profile), this gives sound through the HDMI.
With the ATI 6450HD (I also have 4GB RAM) I can play back 1080p Blu-Ray ripped material (no compression) with ease, including the surround sound. This is the highest bit rate video I have asked it to play and CPU usage is 65%. You will need to use XBMC or PotPlayer to get the system to give smooth playback. VLC works for a while but soon loses sync on the sound.
Im sure it will drop again for black friday weekend, but I've been waiting and missing out long enough
don't bother posting it. Scan and email it
To which email address? Thanks
To get 1080 to work you most people spend £20 on a graphics card (i have for mine also, works like a treat)
Its not very noise but what noise there is comes from the psu fan - i modded mine with a pico psu and its much quieter with less power consumption too. Love these all the same though amazing for the money!

they are great but too noisy to use in a quiet environment unless you mod the fan. mine makes nearly as much noise as my desktop but fortunately sits in my office out of earshot!
