So, yes.
If you're looking for a bargain tablet the HP Slate 7 could be the answer. While it might be cheap, this 7-inch Android tablet from HP - a well-known computing brand, still has front and rear facing cameras and comes with Beats Audio. But how does the screen measure up to competitors and does the battery last long enough? Find out in our full review. The HP Slate 7 is a basic tablet that's good for simple tasks such as surfing the internet and watching video. The screen is reasonable and the battery life is ok. If you want to play games or do anything more high - powered steer clear.
What is it?
A seven-inch Android tablet from well-known computer brand HP. Best suited for anyone wanting a basic device to use in addition to their everyday laptop.
What's it like to use?
It's fine for simple tasks such as surfing the internet and playing video from You-Tube. But our speed testing reveals that it's not quite as nippy as the Nexus 7.This device is handy for commuters as its compact size makes it easy to hold in one hand while clutching onto the handrail on a packed train. It has a rear camera as well as one on the front. This is unusual for a cheap, small tablet. You won't find a rear camera on the Nexus 7 for example. The quality of the images is ok but the video can be a bit grainy. The Beats Audio speakers make a small but noticeable difference to the sound quality when compared to other small cheap tablets.
What's the battery life like?
A quick half hour charge provides a very useful three hours and 15 minutes of battery life.A full battery will give you eight hours of video playback - enough to see you through a couple of nail-biting tennis matches at Wimbledon. And if you're using the Slate 7 to browse the web it'll last seven hours and 17 minutes. This isn't bad for a bargain tablet but the top rivals, such as the Nexus 7 do have a couple of hours more stamina.
Is there anything I should watch out for?
The screen isn't up to the high standards of the Nexus 7. The resolution isn't as high and the colours are a little dull by comparison. We were also disappointed to find that it becomes very hard to see the screen in bright daylight. What's worse, the settings app repeatedly crashed when we tried to alter the brightness of the screen. To produce this tablet at such a cheap cost, HP has cut corners in terms of the touchscreen quality. It doesn't always register your touch and can be quite laggy. The Nexus 7 wins hands down here.Construction quality also reflects the low price. It feels plasticky and flexes a little. There's not much on board storage for apps and content. Out of a possible 8GB there's just 5.4GB available for you to use - that could quickly be filled up with a few films. Fortunately you can use the micro-SD card slot to expand the memory in case you run out of room.
Should I buy it?
This tablet is ok for basic tasks but better cheap options are also available. Try the Nexus 7 - it's the best tablet around if you're on a tight budget.

I have since bought a nexus, but if I hadn't, this price would have made me go for this.
Nice, that's about another £2.50 off if it tracks.
Cheers!

WiFi works perfectly on it, I have had no problems with mine at all
Not putting a downer on the deal, it's a good price, just don't expect anything more than the basics.
