Do you still keep in touch with the lads who were roasting you?
What size animal can you use on this? My neighbours dog is a terrier and I was just wondering :/

This is worthy of its own post IMO.

Great price, very tempted

I came across this unit the other week on Hombase's website and it was £60.

It has great reviews for the price on BBQ forums. 15kg max weight is a lot of meat!

Ahhhh... I did do a seach before posting. I just had a quick look for the reduced Hombase BBQ's post but couldn't find it. Out of interest, was full price £60?

I am sure it was £65 but well worth it, I'm getting another one for my son in law for a Christmas gift as he has been borrowing ours because he loves it too

I found it whilst looking for a dedicated rotisserie for my Weber kettle (£152 ATM!!!). This could replace that purchase but will be a 4th household BBQ of sorts!

Looks good! Basically a 'Santa Maria' style grill with a modern electric rotisserie.

I like it!

Try Asda. They've got the Char Broil Tru Infrared 3 Burner on clearance for (IIRC) £130. Not a bad BBQ for that money.

That must have been painful for you.
ordered thanks!
These are great, there is a dedicated Facebook page for them. Some of the joints of meat ppl. Have managed on these look mouthwatering. Ive just got myself one, planning on simultaneously cooking a chicken and shoulder of pork, whilst sat drinking beer. Cant wait

Just make sure that you have them on the spit in the order you want to take them off - ie the chicken will cook before the pork if it goes on at the same time - saves a bit of hassle as theres only the one handle.

I'll check out the FB page

That would definitely fit! I roasted a massive pork joint last week it was about the size of a fat pug(or was it really a fat pug) I left it on second lowest bar for 2 hours then moved it up for another 2-3 hours, I used a meat thermometer (recommended for safe eating) so can't remember exactly how long all together but around 4-5 hours should do a Terrier, the stainless steel bar and spikes are really good quality thick and strong

Yes I noticed that most rotisserie attachments cost round about this price at the cheapest, when my wife seen this for £65 I told her (as a long time HUKDeal hunter) I would find a cheaper better one but nothing comes near it for quality /price so had to travel 11 miles back to Homebase for it!

Really tempted by this - whats the best charcoal to use on this? I assume Briquettes? How often would you need to do fresh Briquettes for a 4-5 hour roast?

With 'Weber Briquettes' (avoid Supermarket briquettes) you should only need to top-up around 2 to 3 hours. Depends on ambient temperature and wind speed though.
The 'Santa Maria' grill (which this basically is) to be authentic you would tend to burn logs / wood.
However Briquettes should be fine, or a mix even.
Someone mentioned a Facebook group earlier, maybe worth joining?.
Cheers!

Could you post Facebook link for Santa Maria grills for @LittleP14

I done 2 chickens and just spiked each end, they did slip a little now and again but not a big problem, next time I will probably try skewering them together in the middle with a metal sewer then spike at either end as normal
Google the Kellybab recipe. 😋
Also makes a good fire pit once you're done cooking
When I hold a spit roast there's always liquor in the front and poker in the rear
Stupid question but can this also be used as a regular BBQ?

Yes. In fact you would not use the gills when using the spit unless you wanted to grill at the same time.
I've used better lathes, the chuck has a weird fitting.
There’s a good review on this on ukbbqweek.com

If you frequent the CountryWoodSmoke or British BBQ Society FB groups you will see there is a right of passage for the Kellybab...... I've done it 3 times now, once on gas BBQ where I turned it every 20 mins, the 2nd was on gas with rotisserie, the final time was over charcoal with a battery rotisserie on the middle of a field with the boys...... All 3 fabulous!!!!
