Based on Ken Follett's world-bestseller, ‘The Pillars of the Earth’ retells the story of the village of Kingsbridge in a whole new interactive way. Play as Jack, Aliena and Philip and change the events of the book through exploration, decision-making and dialogues.

In their struggle to survive, lives and destinies intertwine. Philip the monk becomes prior of the small abbey of Kingsbridge. At the same time, a boy called Jack is raised in the woods by his outlawed mother. His apprenticeship as a stonemason paves his way to become a gifted master builder. Together with the disgraced noblewoman Aliena, Jack and Philip begin the construction of one of the greatest cathedrals England will ever see.

- Full voice over in English and German, featuring Glen McCready as Philip, Naomi Sheldon as Aliena and Cody Molko and Alex Jordan as the young and adult Jack

This has had good reviews in quite a few places. Definitely picking this up for the bargain price.

    This is a bargain.
Ultimately this is a classic point-and-click adventure game, with real world problems set in the middle of a Power struggle for the English Throne in the 12th Century.
The game explores the ideas of Poverty, Politics, Faith, Power and inheritance.

It certainly isn't for everyone, but I appreciated what the game was and how I got to interact with the story. I really appreciated the art style, the voice acting, the music and attention to detail that the developers put in to the source material (being based on a very long book - which, by the way is also very good).

It's possibly one of the most mature games I've played. To be clear - this is an atypical adventure game. The characters are all real and believable. There's no jokes, little action and the interface is admittedly slow and cumbersome.

BUT - if you're willing to put the time into this game, you'll find that the story at the core is definitely worth playing. It's the sort of game that lends itself well to handheld play.

    Heat.
