Great quality (Toshiba), fast speed, decent cache for the price, let down by the non-thermal conductive sticker resulting in a rather high temperature unless removed.

The sticker is only over the DRAM modules, and you don't want them to run cooler (performs worse and reduces the life of the DRAM).
The controller is the only part you want cool, and that's not covered.

If i ever install heatsinks, I only cover the controller with the thermal pad and maybe 1/4 of each DRAM module just so the heatsink stays level. (edited)

Drive is good. Price is not great. This has been £30 on Amazon before. (edited)

Not sure I've seen this 'Kioxia Exceria Plus' model but the the regular 'Kioxia Exceria' has been £30.

Great price for a 500GB TLC NAND SSD with DRAM cache.
And to think people are voting the 500GB Crucial P3 hotter than this at the moment, lol! (edited)

Don't think techy purists would ever buy a dram-less drive for their machines.

    For me....no dram....no drive....but that's just me

Gone for this.Am hoping my drive clone times will improve with a dram drive.
Getting a bit fed up with my Samsung 980 taking so long to clone just 250gb of data.
Risk free, as will just return for refund if no good.

I only see one buying option for this now and it’s £79.12…am I missing something or missed out?

I received mine today but the blister box was empty?!? The cardboard box was sealed, booklets and blister seemed new and untouched, but there was no SSD. Anyone with the same issue? what the hell?!
    The.Fat.Cat's avatar
I've seen that happen before with other drives, not this one though.
Was yours sold by Ebuyer, same as the deal?

    Quick review...
When installed with no data on drive, got speeds of 3400 Read 3200 Write on CrystalDiskMark
    Was amazed got 3200 write!
Cloned to this drive with 260Gb of data, and read speeds still around 3400, but write has dropped right down to around 1800.
That's the only downside to this drive but can live with it for now.
The big bonus for me is I bought the non plus version for £29.99 and did a drive clone.
Previously when using drives with no DRAM (Samsung 980 and Crucial P2), times were about 90 minutes.
Using these 2 Kioxia drives that both have DRAM, it now takes under 30 minutes.
What a result! Am now a fan of drives with DRAM.
Drive runs well at 36C with heatsink that came with MSI motherboard..
