If you're ok getting a key and installing Windows yourself you can select no OS and take it down to £414. Upgrading to WiFi 6E is free as usual. Extra £10 for 100w charger might be worth it.

If it was aluminium and the screen was 100% sRGB, this would have been stonking - even if for a slightly higher price.

Agree with all of this, though the spec is well worth it, even for the plastic Slim 5.

Think this is the best spec (£469.99):

It’s better to drop the SSD to 512GB as it’ll drop down to £423. The £47 difference will buy a 1TB SSD on its own, unless you don’t want the hassle of buying and fitting.

It was and still is a great deal, but I opted for the 11 gen for £365 hotukdeals.com/sha…909

only 60Wh, so not sure what the battery life will be like on it, but heard ddr5 ram is good for battery life
    plewis00's avatar
They had a 77Wh option the other day for another £10 I think but it’s been removed now. It should be fine but an H-series chip is going to use more power than the frugal U-series ones.

EDIT - I think the 77Wh was for the 16” not this one. (edited)

Did you use Quidco? I did but hasn’t tracked yet, though Honey Gold did - I’m concerned Honey will override Quidco now so might have to cancel and start again. Had ordered two for work… gone for the 512GB, no OS, WiFi 6E, 100W charger for £423. (edited)

Had one delivered on Friday and just got round to looking at it. The lid is metal and sturdy, the base and palmrest is plastic but doesn’t feel cheap (same style as a Vivobook Pro) - the entire system feels well put together and the spec for the money is incredible, if anyone was thinking about it, this is pretty much unbeatable by anything else below £500-600.

Thanks for this. How long does the battery last?

Its working again with BANKHOLIDAY4 code

Looks like you get Lenovo discount every bank-holidays

It says upgrade to 1TB for +£0.00 when I go into the customizer but adds money to the total? Any idea if that;s just a bug?
    runnybabbit's avatar
Lenovo's builder is weird like that, you have to press the options and see if they actually add or subtract what they say. I'm sure there's some complex sales reasoning for it.

    Features

The integrated memory controller supports various memory types up to DDR5-5200 (up from DDR5-4800 of the i5-12500H). The Thread Director (in hardware) can support the operating system to decide which thread to use on the performance or efficient cores for the best performance. For AI tasks, the CPU also integrates GNA 3.0 and DL Boost (via AVX2). Quick Sync in version 8 is the same as in the Rocket Lake CPUs and supports MPEG-2, AVC, VC-1 decode, JPEG, VP8 decode, VP9, HEVC, and AV1 decode in hardware. The CPU now supports PCIe 5.0 x8 for a GPU and two PCIe 4.0 x4 for SSDs.

The integrated graphics card is based on the Xe-architecture and offers 48 of the 96 EUs (Execution Units).

The CPU is rated at 45 W base power (95 W PL2) but most laptops will use a PL1 of around 60 Watt. The SoC is manufactured in a further improved 10nm process at Intel, which is known as Intel 7.

Isn't DL Boost an AVX 512 only feature, so not present here?

Is it possible to solder RAM as two chips running in dual channel mode? Or is it always done in single channel? (obviously i mean can the manufacturer do it)

i wonder if this whould be easy to hackintosh
  13. redmonkey1111's avatar
Do you need 100W charger or 65W charger is enough?
    plewis00's avatar
100W is worth the extra £9 for fast charging.

Any dedicated graphics options? I'm thinking of doing some light gaming on this. Sons of the Forest.
    plewis00's avatar
Not on this system, you might need the Pro or some other model.
  15. plewis00's avatar
The BANKHOLIDAY1 code has ended but you can use another 10% off code to get the same result. You still can't add the 1TB SSD without the code dropping off.
    redmonkey1111's avatar
Which code do you have? Thanks
