X260 ThinkPad RAM and SSD Upgrade Options via Crucial UK - Note it only has a single RAM slot on the motherboard, so the maximum amount that can be installed is 1 x 16GB SODIMM.

2.5" SSD Upgrade Video via YouTube and Pictures of the Interior of the X260 ThinkPad

EDIT - Apparently it can support a M2.2242 PCIe SSD, along with a 2.5" SSD in place, based upon a very quick search online but you might want to double-check that before proceeding to order an upgrade.

EDIT 2 - Checked further, and it appears that the X260 doesn't have native support in place for for a second SSD using the WWAN Port - added in a couple of links for reference, but the previous and the next one up (X250 & X270 respectively) do support this apparently.

    X260-m2-ssd - English Community - LENOVO COMMUNITY

Does X260 support both a HDD and an SSD at the same time? : thinkpad

    Installing 2nd SSD on X260 : thinkpad

X260 ThinkPad X series - Wikipedia - Note that it shows that the laptop can handle 32GB of RAM.

Category:X260 - ThinkWiki - Third party enthusiasts website, which shows that the M.2 Slots on the X260's Motherboard don't have SATA Lanes, so you would limited to one internal storage SSD - either a 2.5" or an M.2 with Adapter. (edited)

Honestly, the only real issue here is you can spend a little more and get an 8th Gen i5 or Ryzen quad-core which will see you better for the long-term. The other potential issue are worn batteries but you can replace those.

Interested in the little more. Next gen was £224 on another post, so more than double the price. However if you have a deal for a little more, please post.

This would be a fantastic deal if it weren't for the potato res screen :/

I've been using this screen size and resolution on a laptop since 2013 (Latitude e6230, typing on it now) - that said I do run it with an external screen. I also have a thinkpad of this resolution but with an i5 3 generations behind the one here - multi-desktop support (windows 10 or higher) or using, say, Debian with KDE Plasma makes this much more plausible. It's great for pickup-and-use casual use in that sense; I use mine (x230T) in bed when I can't move very much (I have a back injury and some days I'm just too immobile). Sure, 1080p is preferable and IPS is a BIG bonus but it's not that unworkable, instances of popup boxes exceeding that vertical resolution are relatively few generally speaking.

The £125/150 X280's from Itzoo are potentially a fair bit better, quadcore not dualcore, official Win 11 support, and most of us got FHD displays.

    plewis00
That was what I was thinking of when I said a ‘spend a little more’ but I think they’ve sold out now? X280 is slimmer and lighter but RAM is fixed unlike the X260.

Really annoying that they won't ship to the Highlands or Northern Ireland. In some cases it's plain ignorance as Royal Mail will collect and deliver a parcel of this size weighing between 2 and 5kg, 24hr delivery for less than £8 incl tracking. Evri, I think, charge about £9, the same amount for the UK. I'd be happy to pay the difference but when I've enquired there's usually no answer or 'we have a contract with a carrier and they charge £15 for delivery to the Highlands'. That's on top of the 'free carriage'.

Anyway after my rant, I wanted to say I have this laptop and I think it's a good choice for anyone wanting a small work machine. The docking stations are reasonably priced at £25 and allow you to leave the external monitor, mouse and keyboard in place if i need to take the laptop anywhere. There's also plenty of USB sockets and options for external monitors. There are also USB docking stations which will work for other laptops should you upgrade.

We were just talking yesterday about getting a laptop to share documents etc on (middle age couple!) as I currently use a little basic Chromebook and husband has work laptop but he reminded me that to use word/excel you need to pay a monthly subscription (though I'm a teacher I put my details in on the Microsoft website and not eligible for free) so tempting though it is it's not for us right now. But it looks a really good deal for a basic laptop, thanks for finding. (edited)

Noticed the seller has a good selection of various refurb laptops. All with the discount code applicable

    plewis00
It’s not all their laptops with the code available. Last week it was 20% off everything they sold, now it’s 15% selected items only.

Perfect for running Office , Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc. Some of us don't play games or video editing.
This will browse the web with no problems. I actually use my computers to create wealth for me. Even still use a DOS database which runs perfectly under VDOS and holds ctitical information going back 25 years.

While I was looking at ITZOO, I noticed they have the newer X270 for £9 less with a slightly faster CPU, USB C charging and data (one of the big changes over the X260), ITZOO will probably include both batteries too, so I've posted it - let me know what you think.

My mum has this exact laptop and it sucks, it's just too slow for anything today, it can barely handle Youtube.

I've got something similar as well and while it's generally pretty bad I think it's actually very good for video playback like on YouTube.

    I reckon it'd play 4k 60fps videos.

    I've got one of these.
I've had it since 2017 and it's done me proud.
Upgraded the ssd to 1tb and it's also got a fingerprint scanner, back-lit keyboard and sim card slot.
The keyboard is probably the best I've used.
Although, I don't use it anymore as my main laptop, I still use it for work to learn Web development.
