Work on anything, anywhere with the incredibly light and speedy Macbook Air 2020. The M1 chip is a game-changer. It's 3.5x faster than the previous Macbook Air, and packs in 8 CPU and 7 GPU cores so you can take on video-editing and gaming. Plus, it's incredibly power-efficient. The M1 lets you browse for up to 15 hours, or watch Apple TV for around 18 - that's a full flight from London to Sydney!

The only thing that bothers me about Apple products is, that if you want a bit better specs like 16GB RAM and 512GB storage (both should be standard in 2023) the only place you can buy is Apple. And obviously they never on Sale.
None of the big retailers sell bumped up specs models. Or even give an option to upgrade the specs.

Not exactly accurate, they're for sale all over - Amazon, John Lewis, Costco etc etc.

They're not all selling the base spec but you're right about 'standard' spec - I think most of the current pro lineup ship with 512 by default. 8Gb is still going to be the entry level for non-pro users, like with the 13" - but the 14s now start with 16Gb. Granted, they're still very pricey devices, especially compared to the Airs.

Air is essentially a browsing and email on the go type laptop (though it can do a lot more), so their main SKU shouldn't be expected to be super-high as most users just won't need it.
