Thanks MacBook Air’s on-board 720p HD camera and three-mic array, this device, once connected to Wi-Fi, will let you to take part in video chats or virtual meetings, enabling the fun or the office to come to you.

Apple M1 Processor
Apple’s M1 system on a chip (SoC) processor features a single pool of high?bandwidth, low?latency memory – allowing apps to share data between the CPU, GPU and Neural Engine efficiently, so you’ll be able to power through complex workflows, fast and fluidly.

What is RAM?
RAM (Random Access Memory) is different to the permanent storage provided by hard disk drives (HDD), solid state drives (SSD) or memory cards in your equipment. RAM is used by your device to temporarily store data to carry out everyday operations. The more RAM your machine has, the faster you can expect it to open and run programs.

This device has 8GB RAM.

Solid State Drive
The Solid State Drive (SSD) in this computer gives you capacity to store your documents and media, while ensuring speedy and dependable access to your files and programs. SSDs are much faster than regular hard drives and don't use moving parts to work, making them more reliable and quieter.

Magic Keyboard
Created to provide a comfortable and stable key feel, Apple’s Magic Keyboard features pre-programmed shortcuts, and useful features that are even easier to access. You can receive assistance from Siri, switch keyboard languages, respond with the perfect emoji, or find documents with Spotlight. Additionally, there’s a backlit option – an ambient light sensor will help you type in low?light settings.

Touch ID
A dedicated Touch ID button lets you unlock your MacBook Air with a single touch of a finger or access things like secure documents or system settings without having to re-enter your password. It also allows you to use Apple Pay to make secure online payments without too much hassle.

Retina display
Featuring 400 nits brightness, the MacBook Air 13” delivers deep blacks and bright whites. It supports wide colour for even more vibrant pictures, with realistically vivid details.

Connecting your other devices
The two Thunderbolt / USB 4 ports allow for fast data transfer, as well as the option for dual screen working, whilst Bluetooth can help your send data wirelessly between devices.

Additional information: manufacturers often update their Operating System (OS) software over the course of a device’s lifespan – this means that your product might ship with a more advanced OS than specified.

Slightly cheaper at Scan, £840, but only standard warranty.

£9 for additional 1 year warranty, it’s a no brainer

This is a 3 year old machine now. It’s still good but not sure this is worth it. I would personally get a grade A/B M2 Air from CEX for the same money or look for a used M1 Air, they are quite reliable as mostly solid-state and can be had for around £500-600 now.

Macs hold up really well. I’ve used an Intel one for 7 years. I hope the M1 will last at least 5 years for medium use, or even more for light use. 8GB ram is sufficient for most people.

    8gb ram lol

Didn’t think it would take long for the 8GB RAM crew to turn up

I love 8gb of ram. Keeps my Mac future proof for the next 10 years.

How many people use 10 year old computers?

I don't think the 8gb ram is the worst (I currently have that from a few years ago), given the rest of the machine for this price...but why oh why is it a 200 quid upgrade to 16gb - that's the real joke
    Els1e's avatar
Yes, £200 for 8gb is a joke but it's almost criminal for Apple to sell a machine with 8gb. Most of us know it's too low (the mobile I'm writing this on has 8gb), and a laptop needs more for running applications. Apple know most will want to get 16gb so are forced into the Apple upgrade tax. Its not cricket!

    Good price

No, it's almost identical. The main difference is a larger battery (it's also heavier and bigger), and fans on the Pro model - so high performance can be sustained for longer (e.g. large video exports/recodes). For typical uses - e.g. browsing, basic office work - you wouldn't notice the difference day to day.

I remember buying this 2 years ago for £900 on sale. The price hasn't decreased that much

This is my work issued laptop - it has 8GB of ram and I’ve genuinely never had a single issue working on it. No I’m not doing anything crazy creative but for 95% of people for home and work use, it is absolutely fine.
    plewis00's avatar
Well, yes, but if you’re just doing basic/simple tasks then a Chromebook will also fulfil the same needs and no requirement to spend nearly £1k unless you need the premium aesthetic.

I cannot wait for Apple to use their Pro displays in the Air, having FALD is so nice and the backlight on these is super distracting at night.
    plewis00's avatar
I’m sure they won’t so you will be inclined to get a Pro. Maybe OLED is a possibility though.

Pay with vouchers from Airtime rewards and save a further 4%

Can you please explain? I don’t see John Lewis as listed on Airtime Rewards, nor anywhere on there to buy vouchers…I’m curious!

I have been looking at a mac for development recently and the best deals are the minis. I'd also recommend browsing apple certified refurbs.
    plewis00's avatar
Definitely, you can get them under £500 now, but no good if you need a laptop.

got one 2 years ago for same price. ridiculous.
    A57ton's avatar
    Apple never lower their price.

Generally speaking, possibly the odd exception. (edited)
