This looks like the Vango Banshee 200 that I have.

It isn't as high spec but for anyone fancying a solo trek it is ideal.

is this better than the 2 man tent I got from Tesco's last year for £15 … is this better than the 2 man tent I got from Tesco's last year for £15 (as yet untested)

Yes.... it will be far better quality. It is 3000 HH waterproof and has alloy poles.
Personally i wouldn't use a tent this small.... but this tent is really aimed at hikers and cyclists who need a small packsize and minimal weight.
Very good deal at this price.

this is a knock off of vangobanshee 200 & in reality sells for 50 to 60. it is not big enough for two and not good for festivals etc. where larger cheaper tents to be thrashed are a better choice, this is good for trekkers who are looking for mid quality at low weight which is usually expensive. The Gelert solo for about £30 is slightly lighter and smaller and the only other cheap low weight semi quality but has almost no sitting room. these came into stock for a few days at this price last week too on argos ebay. as to the question on waterproofing tents, yes it is done by buying the expensive solution tubes at gear shops or mixing your own silicon and mineral water etc. if you know how for cheaper and applying to the seams to be fully sealed. spring is just under 5 weeks away.

I solo'd the West Highland Way 3 years ago carrying the vango version of this. The overall sized and design is identical. It certainly is snug and calling it 2 man is a stretch but there is room for you and your rucksack. While still having a little room between the interior and exterior skin for boots etc.

If you wanted to use this a lot then go with something like the better made Banshee but otherwise this one here will do the job.

    I own a 6 man, 2x4 man, a 3 man, and 3 varieties of 2 man (usual, pop-up and hiking). I am still tempted!

I have one of these, bought several years ago and used many times, including in heavy rain. I've been very pleased - very light to carry, easy to erect and take down and pack. Waterproof. I wouldn't want to test it as a two-man. It's big enough for one plus rucksack, and is for sleeping only - no room to sit up. And I don't think the fabric is ripstop. Absolute red hot bargain at this price.

I have the one man version of this as my lightweight/treking tent I got it in a sale at Argos many years ago for £7.50 I waterproofed as I do all my tents and it is brilliant my only gripe is that it is a little too small but hey that is what it is meant to be this is hot

Good price for this....i paid about this for the orange single man tent from argos sale last year...This is better really, as gives you a little more room, if on your own, for your bags.......with not that more weight.......HOT.

vango make these tents, but like you say they are not as good quality. I have a few vango tents, and they are great. But the last one of the Lichfield ones I had, leaked really badly. To the point I left it were I pitched it, and slept in the car

I wouldn't touch that.... it looks to be a single skin, so you'll get showered with condensation at night.
1200 HH is also poor waterproof spec.

What part of "A lightweight technical tent ideal for backpacking and trekking" did you not understand?

Its not meant for a weeks comfortable camping on a camp site its aimed at people who lug all their belongings around in a rucksack and/or wild camping.
