I bought this when it was at lower price. I think some of the poor reviews are down to people not reading the instructions properly...

    * Yes it may not be as well designed for cleaning as the bigger name devices, but look at the price compared to them - some of them are 100s of £s! After a couple of uses, you get used to it.

    * It has a number of effective safety features to prevent operation unless it's correctly assembled - just make sure the top is correctly fitted by pressing down until you hear the lock click into place, otherwise it won't switch on.

    * The blade doesn't come out separately, but it doesn't have to, the grinding unit comes out as a whole for perfectly straight forward cleaning.

    * No you can't remove the water tank, not sure why you'd want to since it uses all the water each time, so it's always empty!

    * You can use it with pre ground coffee if you don't have beans, but fresh ground beans definitely tastes better

    * You can make coffee now, or set a timer - I set mine for the following morning, getting up to fresh made ground coffee doesn't get old!😁☕ Taste will be very much dependant on your local water quality and coffee brand.

    * Jug is 500ml - about 2 mug fulls, or more if making latte's etc.

    * With a bit of care, don't see why it shouldn't last a while before it goes bang - mine shows no signs of expiring! (edited)

Not to be that guy buuuut just get an Aeropress or a V60 and use ground coffee. I've got no idea why you'd want a machine that smashes beans into random sized pieces and then vaguely sprinkles hot water over the top of some of it.

Also by the looks of the reviews it takes an age to actually make the cofee as well, when I can make a cup of coffee with the Aeropress in 2 and a half minutes where maybe 20 seconds of that is me actually doing anything. (edited)

Agree, I use a french press and you can a few cups of decent coffee in 5 mins

Bought, sounds like a good machine for hardly anything. Hope it can make the coffee fairly contentrated (expresso style) but no worries if not, I love coffee in most formats

Sadly, you won't get something like that from a filter machine like this, as there is no pressure to the water, it just drips over the grounds and seeps through.

The most cost effective way you could get stronger coffee is a Mokka pot or (the much easier option) is an AeroPress, I know it isn't true espresso but you'll get a stronger coffee still.

You should still get decent filter coffee at the end of the day though

Once you try bean to cup or high pressure coffee... Very difficult to pick up a jar of instant coffee

It takes about 15 min to make coffee.

Apart from the grinding which is noisy, it's very quiet in operation.

You can vary the strength by putting more or less beans in, and there are 2 settings to tell it whether it's to be milder stronger - I assume it passes through the water quicker?

I personally found the coffee far too strong the first couple of times I tried it, so I put less beans in to my own taste. And of course it makes your beans last longer!

There is also a setting for using pre-ground coffee.

The length of time for a brew doesn't matter to me - I use it once a day on the timer function, so it makes my morning coffee in time for me getting up - lovely!

When I want a glass of milk I don't buy a cow, ground or instant is good for me.

So this is not a bar pressure one that makes espresso type coffee is it
    j0sentina's avatar
    no .. its not
it just pours hotwater into the coffe powder and brews it.
More like a glorified french press

Unless it's got a burr grinder it's gonna be poor.
    Chopped burnt beans.

I always buy beans and I grind a load to keep in sealed containers. This will be a gift for my bro who likes ground from bean.

Im not a coffee expert, so I don't know where the beans will be getting burnt. But it grinds the beans into a very smooth powder, and makes lovely coffee! I have a hand grinder which produces much rougher results.

I think the reality here is that if you have never had a bean to cup machine (like me), you'll be pleased with this machine - it's a definite step up from just a filter machine, you can definitely taste the difference between freshly ground and pre-ground coffee!

Sorry for the stupid question... but where do you place the cup on this 'bean to cup' machine?
Do you to put it in the place that the jug usually goes? (edited)
    Andyyyyy's avatar
You don’t place the cup - the coffee falls into the jug which you then use to fill your cup separately
  17. gratedcheese's avatar
It's not that kind of machine, it must be used with the supplied jug, otherwise it won't work.

    Cheap for a reason
