    I was aware but seriously can't believe it's still a thing in this day and age
    Microsoft/Sony/Steam have been linking purchases to your account for absolute years!

    Really puts me off digital purchases from Nintendo (edited)

    With switch I think games are now linked to your account and not the system. But that's not the case for older devices.

    Hi, I just bought a 2DS XL for my son, I wasn't aware of this (haven't really used Nintendo before). Thanks for the info.
