For me the most important thing is the Watt's and they never seem to match the price !!
They really dont make them how they used to

Anyway, good price & find OP

The Watts don't make the sound quality though.

I recently bought the 300 version. Not blown away to be honest. Mids and bottom end lacking surprisingly.

That's my point.. all these brands, new stock and ranges that are coming out that's what they like with high prices all about the quality of magnet and watts !

Something like this should be ranged at 350-450 (edited)

I have some retro b&w 602s S2. On atacama stands.
    Would these be an upgrade?

I would say no, keep your current speakers. These are entry level floor standing speakers, I would go for a good set of bookshelf speakers with stands at this price point over any floor standing speakers. (edited)

I am looking to get some floor standing speakers, center speaker, rear bookshelf speakers and maybe atmos speakers. Budget is £2k-ish. What do you guys recommend? I was looking at maybe second hand Monitor Audio Silver units but have no idea if I should have the latest thing or older units or what.

    Can anyone help? Cheers

Haven't heard the Monitor Audios so can't comment on experience, but have the older SX-80s (same drivers) and I'm happy with them in a 5.0.2 setup. They have 6.5" woofers while the Monitor Audios have 5.5" so should theoretically be superior at low range, but not sure how much difference there is between all these entry level towers really.

Don't be fooled by the £599 RRP though they were £399 for years. (edited)

This is an excellent price and I was lucky to sell a nearly new pair for £200 before these offers come in. I found the base really strong but lacking a bit in the mid range. Had them in quite a large living room for a home gym setup and listened to mainly rock and EDM. Honestly I preferred my Diamond 9.1s as they had much more clarity and I just didn't get that level of response with these. I'm only using a Cambridge A5 amp though. At this price though I'm not sure you could get anything near for the money.

Many thanks OP, just ordered the Black at £8 more!

Using them as secondary speakers so they'll be perfect.
...unless being used in a measured acoustic environment, with matching source, amplification, cables/interconnects, these will be more than good enough for purpose intended. (edited)
