This is a strange one. One on hand it includes the original dubs any existing fan would be used to and include the original music so it is the "real" version, on the other hand as someone said in an Amazon review - the "standard" edition is the Netflix dub only, but is currently £42.10 at Amazon.

So playing £50 more for the original dub really has me conflicted over which is the better option (as someone who grew up on the original dub.) Is the Netflix version voice really that bad?

(Heat OP regardless because a version discount is a discount) (edited)

It has some weird eccentricities and terminology under Khara's insistence (the first one off the top of my head is "This is the Third Children" which grates) but I do prefer the original 90's version and getting End of Evangelion on blu ray with that dub and not having the Manga Entertainment censorship is icing on the cake.

Plus with all four Rebuilds on Amazon using most of the original 90's cast it puts the Netflix dub even further on the outlier.

But if your first taste of Evangelion was the Netflix dub or you prefer the original Japanese, probably worth saving your cash on the standard set.

Has any justification been given for the £40 price hike?

90's dub, a big blue box and a serotonin release.

Seems apt given the themes! (edited)

Paying £90 for a blue box with blue cases which contain blue discs... It's possibly the most uninspired, boring collectors' item I've ever seen.

At least include a Unit-01 postcard or something!

Good price given all the content.  I have the old Perfect DVD set fro the US but the picture quality can be a bit off at times on that,  this is apparently a lot better.  Unfortunately I can’t justify shelling out that much but if I had the cash I’d be on this as fast as Shinji runs away from danger.

    Thanks for the deal!

But why it was posted so late?
I saw this price on the first week in december during the big christmas offers from AllTheAnime.

Literally only saw it whilst trawling through eBay yesterday trying to find something for that nectar card offer.

Just a head's up that despite saying it was ending last night it's still showing as £89.99 (possibly going when staff start work today or something?).

I have the standard version but not seen it yet, I heard these recent bluray releases don't have Fly Me To The Moon as the ending song? (edited)

Yes there was licensing problems when they tried to include it, apparently the company that owns the rights for Frank Sinatra's songs was asking crazy money like £20million per episode or something

Got the ultimate version but cost much more than this as it sold out and had to get it off ebay
