For not much more, you could buy a Raspberry Pi 3B+, put in a microSD card loaded with retropie (free to download), and even buy an amazing little Nes case for it and a couple of controllers. Then you can put on every Nes game, Snes game, a whole bunch of other arcade/console games including N64 and PS1.

For sure. Many of the deal posters and regulars don’t approve.

I dont mind anyone making a quick buck just often times the sort that brags about doing it on here do come across badly.

I cant be bothered to mess about for a few quid.

It highlights to me how many in our society are struggling though.

We all don’t wanna pay over the odds it’s why we are here but messing about buying a selling something on eBay with all the nonsense and effort that comes with it for at best a couple of hundred quid profit and that’s for the odd deal mostly it’s a fiver here and tenner there....

most of those that brag about buying “ten copies” - it works out at less than minimum wage by the time you factor in listing, checking emails, answering questions, buying envelopes and all that jazz and then posting.

    Na you are ok....

like I say if you can make a few quid good on you but bragging about it here.... buying and selling a glitch PS4 is hardly life changing....

people posting “bought 10 copies” and the like are clearly trolling.

Seems inevitable, although I would imagine they will wait a while for the necessary hardware - both SOC and storage - to be cheaper. The hardware for NES and SNES mini are cheap as chips and they would want N64 version to be same.

The fact that they re-released the NES classic suggests there won't be a new model for this Xmas season anyway, they are hoping people keep buying the NES & SNES. (edited)

Prefer getting the official NES Mini then just side load the game onto it. Heat for this, best price going without the need of an EBay code or used item.

It wont have the same appeal as the NES and certainly not the SNES Mini, which was a better console, had way more classic games which all have aged alot better than the very early 3D games have, 2D sprites just aged so much better and feel so much more artistic

Also Nintendo dont have the rights to Goldeneye anymore and most of the best N64 games have all been remade/remastered anyway, Zelda OoT & MM, Perfect Dark etc etc, and no Metroid game either (edited)

Seems strange for them to have done that now, after years and years of it having gone relatively unpoliced. Why spend money to crush a thing that has virtually petered out by itself unless a relaunch is on the cards?

Still massively p****d off about that. Nintendo have always been aggressive with such matters but to kill sites that have been around for years does suggest they've decided their's money to be made out of this retro revival. I realise it's copyright infringement but it's not like you're depriving anyone of revenue, half the games you couldn't even buy if you wanted to, and if they were only released in other regions you're hardly going to spend hundreds on old tech' to play one or two titles.

Personally after what they've done I won't be buying an N64 mini or whatever in future.

For those that are considering the Raspberry Pi route, worth noting that the controller lag makes most snes titles unplayable. Apparently caused partly by the system and partly by modern TV image processing, it means there is a very slight lag between making an input and getting the desired result. You can play games, but not like you used to on a SNES.

Mario 64 is probably my favourite game ever, as is Golden eye, but as you said, they don't have the rights for Goldeneye anymore. There could be a few other classics to add (Mario party, Pokémon, Mario Kart 64 etc) and generally the games are bigger and more playable than the older generations. I would certainly buy one to actually play it, even just to have a mini version just to play Mario 64 with the N64 controller

I thrashed the SNES mini and didnt get bored like I did with the NES Mini, are very early 3D games more playable than the best 2D ones? Im not sure they are as they lend themselves to comparisons with recent games where they fail miserably gameplay wise. Having said that I would be hyped for Mario 64 and Paper Mario, mario 64 is still insanely playable today (edited)

You can buy a steam link for £1. Yes a pound in steam sales.

Then just use that with your pc to load every emulator going.

Then also use your PS4 controllers with the steam link to play games.

It really is super annoying coming into a thread like this and seeing Raspberry Pi statements. There is tons of ways to emulate a NES, even my N64 everdrive cartridge plays NES games, but we are nerds that require even more ways of playing.
