sorted byWhile the wii u got off to a poor start, it's coming into it's own. Ignoring pranksters silly statement that it has no killer games, those of you who enjoy great games and are going to take up this brilliant offer should definitely look at the following (Note - everything below is exclusive to the Wii U apart from Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed):
Lego City Undercover - Brilliantly funny open world lego game. Much, much better than any previous lego game before it. GTA for kids (and big kids too!).
Pikmin 3 - Gorgeous graphics and extremely tight level design make this one of the stand out single player games of the year. Also has superb local multiplayer modes.
New Super Mario Bros U - Do not confuse with previous entries in the 'new' series. This is top drawer stuff and a welcome return to form. It's *almost* as good as Super Mario World and reminds me greatly of this classic game. A definitive purchase.
Wonderful 101 - Hardcore gaming for hardcore gamers. Fantastically exciting action game with lovely graphics and huge depth to the combat system. Make sure you use the right stick for combos and NOT the touch screen and you will be fine. Can be confusing at first but once it gels with you, it's one of the games of the year.
Zelda HD - Stunning, simply stunning but you are getting it with this bundle so good for you
Nintendo Land - You need this for some great local multiplayer fun. A bit hit and miss, you should still be able to get plenty of fun out of it with other players.
Sonic All Stars Racing Transformed - Wii U has the best console version of this and you can play local multiplayer on 2 screens - no more split screen Really, it's brilliant and can be had for a tenner from CEX
You can also get cracking versions of third party games such as Need For Speed Most Wanted and Tekken. Deus Ex is out next week (£21 on shop to) and will be huge fun with the added gamepad functionality.
In short, ignore the trolls, they haven't bought the system and if they have, they sold it long ago. They haven't played the games. I have completed every game I listed above, they are all killer games, every one and they most of them are exclusive to the Wii U.
It's only going to get better with Donkey Kong Tropical Feeze, 3D Mario World and Mario Kart.
You've just got to LOVE that off tv play if you have a family (like me) who often hog your TV.
Wii U Party is out next week (great for families), Wii Karaoke U is a brilliant laugh and Wii Fit U is also out in a couple of weeks.
So this deal is HOTHOTHOT and buy it quick before it disappears
So in other words: 1) Nintendo sells the largest internal flash memory.
2) Both other consoles do sell smaller as well.
3) Wii U is the only one still offering an SD card slot (useful for Wii mode), which only some original PS3s had, and xbox 360 has never had.
4) Nintendo encourages external hard drive use.
And that is the key- external hard drives naturally go down in price over time and offer consumer choice. Nintendo doesn't need to offer a price cut for end user to get cheaper and cheaper expanded memory solutions. Not sure if joking... Pretty sure they're owned by RBS which is owned by Lloyds, and if you were going to say they're owned by Sony (I could find no connection) then that's a huge portion of the British banking sector you're implicating! You have a very reasonable point, but what stopped me was your pointing to Tomb Raider's "disappointing" sales. This is a bad example, Square Enix (the publisher) are just being direly unrealistic. They complained similarly about Hitman Absolution and Sleeping Dogs- all three very good games, but to think they would sell like Call of Duty is stupid. Similarly, to think ZombiU or Pikmin3 would sell like NSMBU is daft. Which brings me to my next point:
Among WiiU's "AAA games" there are two types: the ones that will sell like mario to pretty much everyone and the ones that will sell to quality hunters and series fans. NSMB and Nintendoland and Mario Kart are obviously the first category, and ZombiU and Pikmin3 and Wonderful 101 etc. are in the latter category. I can't guess where Zelda WW HD, Mario 3D, and SSMB would go, but you get the point. My first search turned up figures that the first two on this list have sold over 2million copies each before the price cut. And obviously since these are the hot games to buy when you get the console, they will continue to sell for time to come. But if your figure of 3m WiiUs is to be believed... that's an incredible proportion, isn't it?
Every time I see someone say it's a ten year old game in an attempt to diminish it I lose respect. But having said that, I want to stick to what I can in some way back up: a quick search has turned up results for WW on gamecube, USED on ebay generally listed in the region of £30. There have been deals for WW HD new and physical for less than that. So you might want to think twice before you say it's anything just because it's old.
I played PSP remote play and it was awful due to extreme lag. The Wii U gamepad on the other hand has a superb latency. They're worlds apart, like comparing a NES zapper to a PS Move. PSP remote play was basically an unusable write off. In other words Nintendo's offering is far superior and included in the price... maybe get a proper basis before you try calling it overpriced again.Does this mean he's shamelessly trolling? Have I been wasting my time replying?I'd buy it No this kind of post, which is not constructive or contributing in any real way, is.
p.s. it helps to try and stop framing facts as opinions, or even worse throw in nonsense claims amongst figuresAre you serious? How can you not know this? Pokémon is a contraction of Pocket Monsters. The whole point is to be able to take it with you, trade and battle your friends. The pokémon experience isn't bounded by the four corners of the screen. To even ask for 1080p is to entirely miss the point.Don't. I mentioned it above. It's about the same as saying Microsoft saw the PS2's EyeToy and got jealous. You know that's not why they built the Kinect. Zack & Wiki is under-appreciated, forgotten, a bit of a hidden gem, so I wanted to quickly second that. Probably the first time I've even seen it mentioned in years. What is the point in posting to say this again really? Why?I wasn't going to reply to you (because pretty much everything else you said is fair) but I've got to question this. It's not simply about alternatives when they are not mutually exclusive. It is like saying buying a PS3 now is bad value because the PS4 will offer better value in the long term... what? No. One can buy both. The PS3 is cheaper than the PS4, as is the Wii U, and just like the Wii U the PS3 has games the PS4 can't play (ceteris paribus).
What you are closest to arguing is Opportunity Cost- and as has been stated the opportunity cost of buying a Wii U ONLY is a console that can play PS4 and Xbox One games (that don't also appear on Wii U). However, the discussion of opportunity when buying a Wii U only is relatively pointless, since the real opportunity cost of buying this deal here is whatever you can do with £200. You can't buy a PS4 with £200. Not even close. You'd then be considering fractions of disposable income and order of priorities, which puts us in a decision tree which is anything but a simplistic 'alternatives' evaluation. You can't really say you don't care when you've been quoting the figures for your argument... didn't you?
p.s. please stop using dollar signs on both sides it makes very little sense. Wii U cost $0.86, PS3 cost $0.83, huh? No.If you feel that way about this thread then please, for the sake of intelligent thought everywhere, leave the thread to its own devices because comments like this are adding nothing. And you have dozens of comments across this whole thread for what. For not even buying it.
No chance
Good luck with those mediocre launch games
Only twice the price for a bundled game!
I swear Sony / Microsoft must pay people just to troll places like this. No real person could be this uneducated and butt hurt over the Wii U surely? The Wii U is still young, and is starting to gain momentum, all these trolls predicted the death of the 3DS, bore off would you. Wii U is doing just fine, half the price of the Xbone and with a game that will likely be better than anything on Xbone. Keep on trolling guys.
N64 got hammered because of the odd controller (which was the birth of the analogue stick) it also got hammered for sticking with cartridges. The cartridges turned out to be a wrong move, but the intention was always to benefit the customer by reducing load times.
Gamecube got hammered because it looked odd. It was the first Nintendo console to offer online play and you could plug in your GBA. None of it worked all that well, again Nintendo had good intentions.
Wii got hammered because of the name and 'core' gamers moaned that it had no 'core' games. It also had no chance to compete with 3rd party games due to it’s tech limitations.
Wii U gets hammered for the name, the marketing, 3rd party games and tech.
I understand all the criticism Nintendo has received on each and every console. I think it's a shame that Nintendo decided to go for a low power system almost handing Sony and Microsoft exclusive next gen games. But, I also like that Nintendo try to be different. I don't see it as a rival to PS4 or Xbone, I do see it as a fun console that can currently be had for a bargain that my son will love for Christmas. Will I have more fun playing Wii U AAA games in the next 6 months than any games being released on PS4 and Xbone? YES, the launch line ups are terrible on those machines. They will be fantastic machines, but from what I have seen they will need a year. So, ill be looking at this site in about 12 months for PS4/Xbone bargains in the meantime, I’m going to very much enjoy playing with my son and his new Wii U.

Have fun staring at hardware with nothing worthwhile to play for the first several months.
It represents poor value to YOU. Baluga caviar at £1 represents poor value to ME because I don't like caviar. I don't go in caviar threads talking about how much I don't like caviar. Seriously mate, this is primary school level education.
@Prankster101 This is a deal thread, your not interested in ever purchasing this system, so why post in the threads
(edited)
Now readman, you've been asked to put your money where your mouth is before. We know what happened there. I think it's time you just knock on the head now. You've had your opinions aired for the thousandth time, let the thread become healpful to everyone who is genuinely interested in it so they can get their questions answered by Wii U owners.

The PS4 does have decent games at launch. CoD Ghosts, Battlefield 4, Drive Club, Knack, Assassins Creed 4, Killzone and with Watch Dogs and Infamous Second Son coming out a couple of months after.
Any gamer worth their salt can see where the best value is and the best games will be this Christmas.
He's right there on the box with his little green hat.
great game, great console! buy buy buy!!!

Since I compiled the list, I've added Rayman Legends to my game collection and the save data is only 2MB.
I have the 32GB premium set and have the following installed:
Your Shape Fitness Evolved 2013 (2075MB)
Nano Assault Neo (58MB)
Trine 2 (1894MB)
Toki Tori 2 (545MB)
Rayman Legends Challenge App (809MB)
Little Inferno (94MB)
Mighty Switch Force (496MB)
Zen Pinball 2 (359MB)
Tank! Tank! Tank! (1517MB)
Animal Crossing Plaza (379MB)
MH3U Packet Relay (95MB)
Wii Street U (101MB)
YouTube (41MB)
Netflix (9953KB)
Lovefilm (9953KB)
Uplay (22MB)
VC games:
F Zero (24MB)
Super Metroid (26MB)
Punch-Out!! (16MB)
Balloon Fight (16MB)
Donkey Kong (16MB)
Kirby's Adventure (14MB)
The following game data still on my Wii U:
Pikmin 3 (101MB)
COD BLOPS II (89MB)
Injustice (658MB)
ME3 (63MB)
ZombiU (34MB)
NintendoLand (338MB)
Darksiders 2 (4608KB)
Batman: Arkham City (2560KB)
Sniper Elite V2 (8704KB)
Demos:
Wii U panorama view trailer (136MB)
Wonderful 101 (944MB)
Fifa 2013 (1220MB)
Rayman Legends (530MB)
Sonic Transformed (1115MB)
MH3U (853MB)
NBA 2K13 (969MB)
Free space left = 9434MB, plenty left for many more games and save data. Especially once I delete a few demos.
If you have another HDD lying around (or you can just procure a small external one cheaply) you don't need a lot of space to have a lot of games installed. Heck, a 120GB would probably be more than enough unless you bought ALL your games digitally. Or unless Mario Kart 8, Super Mario 3D World, and Smash Bros collectively use up more than 10GB between them (doubtful considering how much space the already gorgeous Pikmin 3 is using)
Seriously, people are making too much of a big deal about the supposed lack of space.
199 - 3% quidco
2.00 in points.
- £20 halifax bonus
= £172 ish. Woop!!!
The GamePad is the touchscreen thing. That picture there is called the ProController. Basically your traditional games controller - it's the GamePad without the touchscreen. Lots of games use it now.... So you could use it for Splinter Cell, Call of Duty, games like that. You can use it in NSMBU, Super Luigi U, Pikmin 3, Wind Waker uses it too.
It's just another option. The great thing about the Wii U I think is the amount of controller options, which is something people didn't like about the original Wii. Wiimotes are miles better for some games, but not so good with others, Wii U solved that problem.
I definitely did my fault for reading on the move! Removed it too by trying to edit, those buttons are too close together...

If you love pure gaming, there's nothing like Nintendo.

Don't know if you seen this posted mate.

I keep telling you dude... Nintendo Fans are like the Terminator. They can't be bargained with; they can't be reasoned with. They don't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And they absolutely will not stop, EVER, until you are GONE.
Yeah, some of these guys are in a totally different universe.
This MadeInBeats idiot posted rubbish about the Wii U outselling the PS3 in its first year, which I debunked. Then he wanted me to make a bet about whether the Wii U will have sold more than the PS3 after Christmas in the same time span. When I said I didn't care about that, he said I wasn't putting my money where my mouth is and got 3 likes from his fellow Nintendo fanboys. Quite a baffling way of arguing.
I remember the PS3 launch pretty well and this is still one of the funniest gaming videos I've seen: youtube.com/wat…4Ok
So yes, it's quite probable that the Wii U could have outsold the PS3 in whichever period he wishes to choose. The guy is clearly a massive Nintendo fanboy so I'll leave him to it.

Seems fair.
Not to forget Rayman Legends, which along with the Vita release, is surely the definitive version of this game... My GotY so far (and considering I'm playing GTAV at the moment, that says a lot!!)
Love my Wii U to bits - there's been a bit of a wait between games since I bought mine earlier in the year, but the back catalogue is more than enough for anybody new to the system today. Ridiculous price for a great secondary or even primary system!

The mainstream public has spoken They're fun to toy with for a while, but remember, it's like a poltergeist... they only exist if you acknowledge them
Well I predicted this would get to 1850º but looks like it might actually reach and pass the 2000º mark now!

(But in my modest defence, having qualified the statement with "Not sure if joking..." should be a pretty good sign I didn't just believe it...)
