This is the new Windows Phone 8 Nokia Lumia 820 just released from Carphone Warehouse with a deal that gives you the phone and a wireless charger worth £55 for FREE. To be clear: From what I'm hearing all Nokia 820 phones are going to comes with wireless charging shells but this is the only deal I can find where you get the wireless charging plate for free as well.

If you scroll down to the wireless charging section it says this:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Wireless charging – charge up without plugging in.

You can power up your Lumia without cables or plugs. Simply lay your Lumia on a charging plate (wireless charging plate now available for FREE with your order) until you're ready to go. Put a plate in the kitchen, the office, the bedroom; the more plates you have, the more places you can easily charge.)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
As far as I can tell the Nokia Lumia 820/920 wireless charging plate will retail for £54.99 inc. VAT ($88) when sold seperately, which makes this quite a good deal! Phone available in Black or White. Extra colour covers can be bought.

The phone specs can be found here: nokia.com/glo…ns/

EDIT: 2nd November 2012 - the deal is back up on the CPW website. Is there any way this can be unexpired?

Certainly a heck of lot better than the terrible ee contract deals and the free charger's a nice bonus, still more than happy with my bargain Lumia 800 at less than 40% of the price though!

Where is it?

yep the lumia 800 deals are an absolute mega bargain ... if i hadnt got a >1 year old optimus 7 i would get a lumia 800 in a heartbeat .. my father has one and the quality and screen are absolutely amazing (non replacable battery i dislike & camera is that same average effort as other similar android/winphone etc models - should be better for a nokia !) ... as i'm happy with my optimus 7 i'm waiting for another 6 months or so till there is hopefully a nokia win 8 with a barnstorming pureview camera in it - fingers x

The page definitely mentions the charger being free, I even copied and pasted the right paragraph into the OP. TescoMobile also offer the free wireless charger, but I can't see a way to get the phone sim-free there.

Tesco normally charge around #20 for an unlock code, or at least they did last year.

Thanks, but I think a mod needs to sort the link in this deal. One shouldn't have to dig around a website, or rely on other posters to actually get to the deal posted.

The 820 requires a special back plate for wireless charging - doe sit mean you get the actual charger, or just the backplate?

Also, if wireless charging isn't your thing, the HTC 8X is on Clove for £399, and has a much higher res screen. I've personally gone for that, but if you want wireless charging and an sd slot at the expense of resolution this is a good buy.

Charger is mentioned in Overview, in brackets.

BE AWARE! They may include the wireless charger, but the 820 requires a SPECIFIC back cover to be able to use it. Its the 920 that is able to wireless charge out of the box.

HTC 8X is worth a look at £400.

Seems quite expensive compared to the flagship Nexus device

LG's build quality has always been good what let them down is their rubbish OEM software. As for wireless charging it does have that. Yes there is a lack of 4G but look at the priceplans for 4G in the UK. But the lack of sd expansion does let the phone down big time.

Want this phone so bad.

Can a mod sort the link out? I've tried to replace it with the correct link countless times but it won't let me edit it. The current link currently get's redirected to the front page, where you need to go to Mobile Phones>Nokia>Lumia 820.

Aside from wireless charging, I could almost get a SGS3 for this price and it'll have far better specs. It is a dual core S4 which means it can match the Tegra3s etc but the GPU is quite old and the screen is positively last year... so who the heck in the right mind would pay more than 300 quid for this?

The phone is alright though expensive compared to nexus 4. Nexus 4 may not have 4G but it has HSPA+42 you can guess by the name its max speed though averages around 7mbps which I think is fast enough for most consumer.

Like others have said it does have wireless charging. LG are normally good with build quality. Only thing which normally lets them down is poor OS upgrades and bad OEM software.

And yes my second phone is a Lumia and the build quality is good.

Which they don't have the with Nexus 4 as it is a Nexus device so will get updates immediately.

Plus for the guy above 4G is only in a very small area and the contract prices are hilarious. £56 per month for a 12 month contract with only 500MB data and only goes up from there, I almost died laughing.

This is just the price it costs. Not really a deal is it?

Anyone who wants the device. Not everyone is a spec junky. I don't use an S4, I use a phone. Its visual appeal, the OS, the Ecosystem. I'm not saying your value judgement is wrong, its yours, you're entitled to it. But many people will see a newer snazzier OS on nice hardware with great reliability, great build quality, Nokia specific apps and good support going forward.
Some people might just like the colour red. These things aren't a sum of their parts, otherwise none of us would pay the silly price we pay for these things - prolly cost about 100 dollars to build eh? Having said all that, for a few quid more you could get the HTC 8X which I would take over this.

The inclusion of the charging plate makes it a deal.

That said I think for Nokia's lower spec phone it's far too expensive.

Yeah I bought an LG Optimus 7 as the hardware as good as I didn't have to worry about them **** up the software as it was a Windows Phone. The Nexus will be a very good phone.

£380 for a feature phone that will be less than £100 in a couple of months OR £239 for the best smart phone on the market? Difficult choice.

Cold.. This is expensive compared to HTC 8S... This pricing should be for Lumia 920

Well it's more featured than the 8S but I was expecting pricing to be within 20% of that rather than more than 70% more (if the sim free retailers/importers prices are right for the 8S). Wondering if HTC are thinking of upping theirs slightly.

At £55 a time oh yeah, people are going to be buying loads of them.... oO

The hardware specs of this are similar to the HTC One S which retails for ~£300 so it should cost any more than that.

Gotta agree. The Nexus 4 is getting the bulk of the attention. It's frankly insanely priced at £239. I still can't believe it and early reviews indicate a premium build quality.

Nokia make great quality hardware but I'm not sold on Metro. It sort of sucks. Yes it's clean but it's also very cold, corporate and lacking any soul. You know what I mean if you've tried all three major operating systems (iOS, Android, Windows).

except for the superior screen, the wireless charging, the nokia drive, supersensitive screen, wp8...

yeah, similar....

If it helps anyone, if you're not bothered about the wireless charging plate for whatever reason you could always sell it on and effectively get this phone for £324.96.
