I have 2 of these. While they do support UASP, they do not support the TRIM command. In Windows, using this enclosure with an SSD inside shows it to be a hard disk with the option to defrag, not as an SSD with the TRIM option.

Seriously that is like talking in a different language, didn't understand a word of it
I have no doubt in my mind it was helpful though, so have given you an helpful reaction

I actually bought one of these last week for an old laptop hard drive and wasn't expecting much for the price to be honest, but I was actually really pleased with it. Fitted in easily, read drive using both a laptop and a PC with no isses, and the case is hard plastic and feels solid with the drive inside. Cable is about 45cm long end to end

I use these for cloning my HDD's to upgrade to SSD, cheap plastic so not great as a long term case for an external SSD but do the job of connecting simple & they do work well. Cheaper than most SSD-USB cables so these are HOT

What do you use to clone

Makes buying an SSD a bit more practical without having to open a ps or laptop

Got the identical one from A'express last year hotukdeals.com/dea…293
As the others have mentioned, they are cheap & plasticy.
In the past, one used to be able to get solid metal / aluminium ones for £5 or less off eBay, which also came with a rather useful faux-leather protective removable sheath to avoid getting scratched or causing scratches to other stuff. (edited)

Bought one of these (white) a few weeks back to use with a spare ssd I had from a dead laptop. As others have pointed out these are cheap and plasticky but the plastic they're made from is somewhat malleable/flexible - it's not the supper brittle type which will break on its first drop or the clips will snap off if opened up often. I have noticed though the activity led has a mind of its own.

Can I connect it to an Android phone? Will it recognise it?
    taffyjock1's avatar
As long as your phone supports OTG and can supply enough to power the drive.

    Help!!
Bought this (by coincidence) last week - old laptop died, extracted HD, plugged it in, blue light goes on but doesn't show up in windows 11, says it's connected in devices but only gives option to disconnect when I want to copy files to new laptop...
Tried plugging it into NAS but doesn't show up there either..
Windows sucks & can't figure how to get Ubuntu on this laptop...
    Suggestions anyone ?
Thanks in advance - rant over. (edited)

just use a USB memory stick to install Ubuntu.
You can use your phone or something to download the Ubuntu ISO. There must be some apps on Google Play that may help create the usb loader.

Anyone used one of these with a PS4 to store/play games.
