Created with easy installation, stability and highly useful functionality in mind, this log cabin from Power will add functional space and long-lasting addition to your garden.

Combining world-class engineering, British manufacturing, and the latest advancement in log machining technology, these log cabins from Power are life-changing. The UK's most-awarded garden building brand presents to you a log cabin range that is brilliantly made in Britain using high grade, responsibly sourced and sustainable timber.

Features and Benefits
  • uPVC Doors and Windows - This Power Apex Log Cabin comes complete with uPVC Double Doors in anthracite grey and uPVC 'Tilt and Turn' opening windows. All glass is both toughened and double glazed - perfect for extra security and insulation.
  • High Security - Not only is there the toughened double glazing but there is a 5-point locking mechanism on all doors and windows. Whether you plan to use the log cabin for storage, or for a home office, this extra secure space will provide that additional peace of mind.
  • Roofing covering with a 50-year life expectancy - The roof of this log cabin is designed to protect the building from all kinds of weather. It has an innovative EPDM rubber roofing system that comes with a 50-year life expectancy. This includes a gutter edge drip plate to allow rainwater to run off and away from the sides of the log cabin. Ideal for the various UK weather conditions and climate.
  • Under 2.5m - All cabins are under 2.5m to the ridge, allowing you to bypass most planning permission restrictions that may apply to residential builds. There are extra deep 145mm roof purlins to ensure the strength and rigidity aren’t compromised by the reduced height.
  • High-Grade Timber - The walls of the log cabin are 44mm thick made from high grade, responsibly sourced, Scandinavian Timber. No inferior log cabin timber profiles are used whatsoever such as lower quality 19mm and 28mm thick log cabins, or cabins built with OSB or chipboard floors and roofs. The floor and roofs are comprised of tongue & groove boards to ensure the log cabin is robust and durable. Tanalised timber bearers are provided to lift the log cabin off the ground to further protect the floor.
  • Contemporary Touches - Attractive features such as the external sills are on all windows, and the 'easy access' aluminium low threshold sills on the doors add to the functionality of your building, as well as the aesthetic. Further attention to detail is reflected in the Burford style skirting which provides the perfect finish to the inside of the log cabin.
  • Innovative Self-Assembly - Power's 44mm, high-grade interlocking logs are enhanced by their innovative notching system which allows you to build your cabin with confidence, knowing everything fits tightly and is where it should be. Fixings and instructions are included to allow you to build the cabin yourself.
  • Sustainable - The timber is responsibly sourced from suppliers and forests carefully selected using a thorough and comprehensive appraisal process. Only timber suppliers are used who are themselves FSC certified and chain of custody certification traces the wood from forest to distribution to us, are checked regularly.

I think this is a pretty good deal. If your budget does not extend to this have a look at Tuin. I have erected 5 Tuin sheds/ cabins and a few by Dunster. They are easy to put up if you follow the instructions. There are a few things all these manufacturers could do to make it easier to follow. First off you build all these cabins on the tantalised risers they supply and the floor goes in after its completed. If you go for one with a flat roof you can easily insulate with kingpin or equivalent. Fit the roof then frame the edge with timber same thickness as insulation then 12 mm OSB on top. Rubber roof sheet a lot more reliable than felt. If it comes with felt swap for rubber. It lasts way longer. Most important tip. Have your base flat. Either flags or a deck. If youre way out you will realise when you put doors or roof in. Final point not aware of the quality of the UPVC doors/windows with this but I don't rate the ones Dunster supply.

With 44mm thickness of the wood do you think they would be usable in winter?
    mjr600's avatar
Of course it will, put a wood burner or a bioethanol stove inside if you're a long way from an electric supply. If not a 1kw electric heater will keep it toasty. Mine is off grid, runs off solar and is ' only ' 28mm.

nice to see this posted, as I've been looking at them myself. I believe you can get an additional 5% saving using blue light card, or student discount.

I appreciate people here saying "oh, I can build it for a fraction of the price, and it will be far better quality". I tip my hat to them for having the skills and time/patience to do that. If I had those skills, I'd be making a business selling/fitting them. I know I'd be a customer! But that doesnt stop this being a deal, its the cheapest around for a Power cabin.

I've searched for months, and contacted numerous people to enquire about a fully built/installed cabin (as unfortunatley my DIY skills don't stretch this far, and i unfortunately don't have the spare time to commit to learning). Throughout my search, I can safely say that the prices I've come across have been way higher than this, and that's only when people bother to actually get back in touch with you.

I'm looking at buying the 18 x 16 chalet cabin, which after discount comes in at £6748.79 (only last month the cheapest price at another company was £7300).

After a 2min search I found the dunster Rhine chalet same spec and dimensions same thickness walls £5100

Does anyone know how much room is required to store one of these once it’s dropped off? I live in a cul de sac so space is tight unless it fits on my drive

I wouldn't expect those doors to open and close after a few months... it's gonna be expanding and contracting by a fair amount I'd imagine
    mjr600's avatar
Wooden doors and windows will be better, the construction method is very light on fastenings with this style of building. Wooden doors and windows move with the walls to a degree so sticking from expansion isn't a big issue. Once expansion and contraction limits have been established I'd recommend fitting threaded adjustable storm bracing discretely on at least a couple of external walls on the corners. Every perceivable problem has been addressed with these engineered cabins as there are thousands throughout northern Europe. A finish with Jotun Demi Dekk is a must not some crappy English outdoor garden paint.

    Are these insulated?
    bazcab's avatar
Unfortunately they dont come with insulation.

Though I believe its easy enough to buy and install PIR boards to insulate the floor. The roof can also be insulated with the same boards, but would be a bit more of a job.
  8. xxbluedragonxx's avatar
Silly question but can you slap some render on this and basically make it permanent that way?
    dunnyem's avatar
Not directly onto the wood you would need to clad with a cement board or similar first

Log cabin, funny terminology for a shed

Especially considering they are clearly planks not logs

Just cos it got 811 degrees last time doesn't mean it's gonna do the same or better this time, jus cos it's cheaper.

People don't vote the same all the time and different people vote at different times. Way too many variables that influence and motivate people's voting activities, so thinking this is automatically gonna get as hot as last time is a little naive. Just my opinion.

Where did I say I think it would get as hot or hotter because it is cheaper? The point was people found it a really good deal last time so I thought it was worth posting again and hopefully a few people get the benefit from it at an even cheaper price than it was available for before. Thanks for your comment.

I hope i'm also seeing correctly, but would you also earn points on this purchase from Robert Dyas?

you get 1 point for every £1 spent, so this deal would earn you 6706 + 200 bonus points. Each point is worth £0.01p.

Can confirm this is correct, just earned £69 of points on my order (edited)

Will you need planning permission? (edited)

Depends where you intend to stick it!

I've got a (much smaller) shed of the same brand and it's absolutely excellent quality.

50831470-NbjUe.jpgRegarding thermal properties, I build this ManCave about 5 years ago. It's 7.1m x 4.3m. It has fully insulated 4" cavity walls, consisting of outside brick and inside block. Loft is fully insulated using 120mm lagging between the beams. It's also fully double glazed with lined curtains to reduce drafts and heat leakage.
Heat wise, I need 2Kw of heat for at least an hour before using it. After that I switch to 1Kw to keep it around 22c. I've used Butane gas heaters however the energy costs when replacing cylinder's are pretty similar. You do also get minor fumes however there is no noticeable carbon monoxide.
  17. adebisi30's avatar
Does Robert Dyas guarantee them for a number of years? I see the roof has a 50 year one but would that stand if you put a chimney through it for a log burner? How much would a brick or concrete block one be at this size? Voted hot.

just the thought of building this makes me feel dizzy. Their video has two professional builders doing it.
    clarkeyi's avatar
    Me too 😁
  19. eldy123's avatar
What would it cost to get this professionally installed?
    bazcab's avatar
I would guess it depends on your region of the UK.
Power do have a list of installers that they offer. I contacted 4 or 5 of them, and the prices ranged from £1250 to £1500 for installation (assuming you already have a level secure surface to fit on)
  20. GenuWhine's avatar
In comparison, how much would a brick version of this cost?
    PAcdbOoAct's avatar
Couple of brick shed builds on YouTube that have detailed costings.

Can we buy a land or rent a pitch and buy this and keep living there without council tax etc or do we need permission from council?
    noobnoob's avatar
you'll very likely need planning permission. for change of use of land as well as for the building itself (unless maybe it's on wheels

I purchased something similar from Dunster House and was very happy with the quality. It may be worth comparing with thier product.
    Ryan_West1's avatar
I enquired with Dunster , they only supply and do not fit. How easy/hard is it to assemble?
