Register your physical game collection on the switch for myNintendo gold points/Free eShop credit

Heads up for anyone who isn’t aware, you can register your physical Nintendo games for gold points which can be used to discount eShop purchases. I just got £4.25 in eShop credit from 8 physical games

Simply insert your game into your switch, hit the + button, scroll down and select ‘My Nintendo Rewards Programme’ and then select ‘Earn points’. Job done

The point of the post is registering if you own the games anyway. It’s £4.25 for something which probably took seconds

Is this so that in the future if you buy a second hand registered game …Is this so that in the future if you buy a second hand registered game then you can't play it? Sneaky.

No, you are misunderstanding. It's a simple reward programme (1% back on physical games), limited to once per cartridge. All it means if you buy second-hand games you won't get 1% back as eshop credit but you can still play the game like normal
You have 2 years from release to redeem. Then 1 year to use

Can you register the console and pro controller ?
Could you just have a high package on Boomerangs Rentals with multiple discs and rinse and repeat or does it work once per disc?

Can I insert all the not so local library ones, into mine and then donate the credit / points somehow?

I didn't know about this. Just added all mine. Saves a bit of cash off a future game purchase. Hot from me!

Nah it's a one time use thing. I was lucky enough to get an unredeemed copy of Lego Marvel Superheroes once

Only once per carriage don’t know why. We have 3 switches in the house and I was only able to register the game against one.
You get 1% return from physical games and 5% return from eshop purchases.

What I dont understand is on the switch eshop, underneath the price of a game it states "earn up to 200 points" yet once purchased I earned 184 points. What dictates your rewards?

That's a very good question.
This just reminded me of this -_-

Probably because you only bought one copy of the game.
If you want more points, buy multiple copies of the game
Thanks OP I had some physical games that I had not registered.

After a certain amount of time since redeeming points they begin to expire so you have to spend them or lose them. This was my biggest loss so far
I had about £17 when I redeemed mine, Got the Outlast bundle
Thanks for the tip.

Did you pay full price, or was there some form of discount that you took advantage of? What game was it and what what price did you pay?

The penny just dropped reading your comment , I did use some gold points against the purchase.
So when it says earn up to 200 points that is if you pay £39.99, if you use gold points against the purchase it must reflect on your reward

Yep - it's 5% of what you actually pay, after any promotional discounts/sales or use of gold points.
Cheers
Thanks

Surely if you are moaning about paying £40 you'd welcome getting something back, even if it was just 20p.. it took me like 1 minute to redeem all my games (over 10). If time is so valuable to you, think you need to get off this site..

Ah that’s a shame. So it saves on the cart somehow? You could use them if you are first to get a new release on the priority package I guess

Unfortunately one time use I am told. If you are on a priority Boomerang package you could probably redeem a new release game cart

Not sure your negative post was worth the time....given I just saved £5 on crypt of the necromancer for 2 minutes work, I'd say worth it
Thanks. I did not know about this!
Excellent, thank you. I can buy Super Sidekicks now without having to feel guilty about the 6.29 spend, which was steep for a game I could obtain the rom of. Just wanted it on the Switch 😃
