I have the Roku Premiere 4K HDR model which I bought from BT a few years back. It has never missed a beat in all the years and is as impressive as the day I first plugged it in! The interface is so intuitive and smooth, clear and easy to navigate, even the screensavers are brilliant! It just oozes quality and I have never felt like there's an agenda with a hard sell, like the Fire stick

The Roku Channel is top quality too, free to watch, great content with hardly any adverts.

I recently bought a Fire Stick from Amazon because I wanted the NFL Game Pass app to watch live games, and I thought that I would also see an improvement in quality, I wanted to love the Fire Stick... I was wrong, the Roku is still better. I only switch to the Fire Stick to watch the american football, otherwise it's just an optional extra streaming device for me.

Are there any Roku units that have a rj45 socket?
    Robin_Clark's avatar
Some of the older units have rj45 ports, Roku 2/3 etc. but they are getting a little old now.

Used to be a Roku rep.

Best thing about them is that they suppor miracast and Airplay for screen casting from windows, android and Apple devices

Just be conscious that ROKU have all their money in one bank that 'looks' like it may being going pop.

I'm sure someone would snap up Roku if it went under

I've got a Firestick 4K and use it for just watching Plex, Disney and Netflix, I was waiting for another Firestick, but I'm assuming this will do the same jobs too?

It will certainly do Plex, Disney+ and Netflix without the Prime-themed interface

Bought this last week.. everything ran better rather than using 'smart' TV Apps especially plex (edited)

I bought one of these a few weeks back. As someone who has always used an Apple TV, I was mightily impressed for the price point.

Any benefits of the streaming stick+ over this?

Doesn't seem like there's much between them but you can compare the spec here: roku.com/en-…are

The main difference looks like the better remote with the Streaming Stick+

I know with Firesticks you can side load apps etc, but im wondering can you get the Freeview app on these?

Apologies, a bit of a novice to these devices and im looking to get rid of Sky.

Yep all on demand apps work on Roku devices.

It’s been the same price at Amazon for a while

I'm considering switching to this. Can prime be loaded onto this easily? I have Netflix, prime and Disney+
    Thanks
    CatsWithThumbs's avatar
Yes Prime is available, I have it on mine. Just need to download from the Roku app store if it isn't already there. I can't remember to be honest, it might even be there by default, I've had my Roku for years (and it's STILL more responsive than the apps built in to my newer LG tv)

Do these run pure android and can you run free view on them ?
    CatsWithThumbs's avatar
No they run Roku's own system. You can't run Freeview as such but you have the apps for BBC iPlayer, ITVX, Channel 5 etc which may provide live streams.

Can you install twitch and get a twitch streamer obsessed teen off their phone?
    Chris_R23's avatar
best remedy is probably removing phone from child lol
  15. Fareed_Patel5N5's avatar
Might be a stupid question but do you get netflix/Apple TV and Spotify with this?
    CatsWithThumbs's avatar
all of the above can be installed yes; in fact they are probably already installed as the pic above shows shortcut buttons to each of those on the remote. you will of course need a subscription

    Can these be chromecast to?
    bentze's avatar
Knowledge-base suggests that that's possible on all current models:
    support.roku.com/en-…094

Can't try it though as I don't have access to mine right now...

Can I stream from iPhone to this? My bedroom only has Apple TV and windows streaming.
