Is this a good upgrade from an Intel Xeon E31271-V3, running on a Dell optiplex 9020 sff board, with 12GB ram and an MSI 1070 GTX Armor 8GB OC GPU? I would plan to keep the GPU for a bit longer and use it in this "new AM5" setup. Currently using a cooler master Hyper H412R CPU cooler and a Corsair CX650F 650W PSU (and a 240GB sata3 SSD paired with a 2TB HDD). My "Swaptiplex" is sitting in a "white generic micro ATX case" with decent ventilation. I am not a heavy gamer on PC, mostly playing simulator games in 2K, emulating PS2 and PS3 etc. consoles upscaled to 1080P or 2K depending on the game and some PC exclusive titles up to 2015 I would say.

This is ideal for you, can reuse case, psu, cooler, ssd and gpu.

Just check cooler supports am5, might need new bracket. (edited)

Im no expert on ram speed/timings but the sweet spot for Ryzen 7000 is CL30 DDR6000. From a quick look you want better ram than either of those options

Better RAM options are available if you pay more. If you want to upgrade the ram I'd suggest the 5600 C36 is going to be good enough for £54.99, but personally value-wise I wouldn't bother.

Turns out that the more you pay, the better components you get, but really this deal was just posted for the underlying value of the bundle.

received today and to confirm it does not come with a CPU cooler

Pick up a £16-17 Thermalright cooler from Amazon (like the Thermalright Assassin X120 Refined SE), they are so much better than the stock coolers anyway. (edited)

Will it comes with a CPU cooler?

AMD Wraith Stealth according to the specification, which is crap but will get you up and running. However Ryzen 5 3600's have been failing over time because the Wraith stealth is not good enough. There are other factors at play here regarding high temps under load (and even idle) but your best bet would be to get something decent in there.

Do I need to upgrade from my current 5800x and b-450 to this bundle?
    Rog3r_'s avatar
    no, wait for 8000 series

I am planning to bit the bullet as I stupidly missed the previous deal. Is it worth upgrading the package to the 6000mhz team delta ram for +£70? Or even to the 5200mhz Adata for £40?
    Rog3r_'s avatar
I wouldn't, not sure am5 can fully utilise higher speed ram yet, I'd save money for an upgrade later

Isn't this only a good deal due to the added game? If you plan on eventually upgrading your CPU to a newer/better AM5 CPU further down the line, wouldn't you also want a better motherboard than this one?
    ktown's avatar
Yeah great deal but probably not great for higher end components

Jeeeeze, granted slower speed ram but still faster than DDR4 and I'd happily upgrade to this considering your basically getting the RAM free compared to buying the parts separately lol.

The security thing would not concern me too much as they have hotfixed it already and I guess going forward it will keep getting better. Plus u can just turn it off before you ever get to the OS install!

This is a seriously amazing deal lol, I am so tempted myself!
I've been speccing up a PC for a friend all day and then this gets posted at the end of the day and basically it means almost the same price for last gen versus this gen (sure more on the lower end but it's a much more viable way to cover him for a few years than going last gen).

    That's a hell of a deal.

That's a good deal if you want to get into Ryzen 7000 series, but don't want to spend a mint.
    Heat definitely.

Watch out for the backdoor in the firmware that Gigabyte have supposedly shipped in many boards firmware!
    ktown's avatar
    Pretty much every board!
  18. Stiggy309's avatar
The motherboard and RAM are very much lower end, but for that price I'm sure it's a good deal for some who don't mind
    Minstadave's avatar
For gaming it's performance is very much not lower end. (edited)

For someone who already has better RAM, which RAM option would get the most on ebay you reckon?
    Rog3r_'s avatar
    The 32gb set

Would this be overkill as 1080p system, paired with say a 6600xt or 6650xt?
    SN46's avatar
Yup, would be good to buy as you will have an upgrade path in the future but if you're on a budget 1080p system theres really no need, that being said its a banging deal
