Sainsbury’s seem to have matched Tesco in dropping their Taste The Difference beef joints to £7.50/kg.

British beef roasting joint

Dry Aged for 14 days on the bone and matured for a further 16 days for succulence and flavour

30 day matured.

Our Taste the Difference cattle are selected from trusted farms. Our farmers are dedicated to producing the best quality beef. Our Beef is expertly butchered and matured for a fuller flavour, exceptional tenderness and succulence.

Cooking instructions: Oven

Oven cook from chilled. If freezing at home, defrost thoroughly before cooking.

Before Cooking:
  • 1. Remove joint from the packaging and allow to breathe at room temperature for up to 30 minutes.
  • 2. Preheat the oven to Electric 200°C, Fan 180°C, Gas Mark 6.
  • 3. Brush the joint with 5ml of oil and season with salt & pepper.

During Cooking:
  • 1. Sear all sides of the joint in a hot pan for 6 minutes.
  • 2. Place the joint in a roasting dish and cover loosely with foil, place in the centre of the pre heated oven and cook for: Electric 200°C Fan 180°C Gas mark 6 Rare 20 mins per 500g Medium 27 mins per 500g Well done 32 mins per 500g

After cooking:
  • 1. Remove from oven, cover joint in foil and leave to rest for 30 minutes.
  • 2. Check food is piping hot. All cooking appliances vary. This is a guide only. If cooked rare there is a small risk harmful bacteria may be present.

Warnings
Keep raw meat separate from cooked foods. Use separate kitchen utensils and surfaces for raw meat and cooked foods or wash them thoroughly between use. Wash hands after handling raw meat. Raw meat may contain organisms hazardous to health. If cooking rare, do not pierce the meat before cooking and ensure the surface is fully seared/browned.

Storage
For use by date: see front of pack. Keep refrigerated, once opened use within 24 hours and do not exceed the use by date.

For best Quality, freeze as soon as possible after purchase and always within the use by date. Once frozen use within 3 months. Once defrosted use the same day. Defrost thoroughly and use within 24 hours. Do not refreeze once defrosted.

    Doesn’t seem to get the most favourable reviews. It’s not labelled as to which cut it is, it seems to be silverside and more suited to low and slow long roast in slow cooker than a traditional roast beef (sirloin/topside). A few reviews say it’s multiple pieces tied together. As long as you know what it’s good for, it’s a decent price. (edited)

    if you go in store youl see its silverside or topside i picked a nice topside piece on wednesday when the offer started

    Have changed this back to £7.50, as the link is showing the price for an approximate weight of 1.4kg, and there will be smaller sizes available in store (plus the Tesco deal was posted at £7.50 even though the smallest size was 1.1kg 🤷‍♂️)
