Is it not cheaper and better in the long term making them yourselves?... But I guess "I don't have the time, but I have much time scrolling Instagram and HUKD"

    400g of chicken £3.50
80g Mild curry spice mix: £1.50
    1kg onions: £1
4 tins of chopped tomatoes: £2.20
    500g (1.5kg prepared) rice: £1

4kg of curry for £9.20 + cooking & reheating costs.
Tesco curry is £5.44 for the same weight with only microwave costs.

You can get that cost down with thigh meat, replacing some spice and tomatoes with stock (which you could make for 'free' boiling the thigh bones), adding cheap filler veg like carrots and making a bigger proportion of it rice but it's extremely difficult to beat the Tesco price once energy costs are factored in.

Out of stock online and I haven’t seen them in any Tesco I’ve been in for weeks (I’ve looked, always liked to have one or two in the freezer for an emergency work lunch if required).

Well, obviously, as with ALL foods, irrespective of "quality", this will be a question of PERsonal taste, and personally? I think it's DEEElish, which is 1 good reason I'm almost relieved it's OOS (to me) coz at this deal price, I would have stocked up and I'm trying (very at times, so I'm told) to be good, and with that in mind, THIS particular item? @ Saturates High 36%.... ain't.

This is a pretty reasonably healthy meal. You can check out the health sites if you want but I assume the saturated fats come from the coconut and the research generally shows that to be healthy.... Check yourself.

Considering a cheap pack of rice is about 40p this is 🔥

Had a lot of these. They are adequate for a quick microwave lunch. Probably benefit from adding some chilli flakes

I thought Tesco did away with these cheap frozen meals, they definitely no longer stock them in my local store

It looks like the "Hearty Food" Lasagne has just been discontinued so the others may follow But I suspect it could be a size change (was 400g) with it being the new way to trick the customers, Walkers has done it again with their boxes of crisps now having another 2 less bags at 20 from 22

Haven’t been able to find these for a couple of weeks now, so switched to Aldi/Lidl for them

Wot no peas? Not a proper Chinese curry without them. Same as Vindaloo without spuds.

It's chicken curry. I wasn't aware that was Chinese. Also I've never had peas in any curry.

One of the better tasting cheap meals they do. I buy one per shop so this and 9 other frozen items are in my upcoming shop.

11% Chicken?! Ultra-Processed food like this belongs in a tin can like Heinz Ravioli (which, with 14% beef, has a higher meat content than this chicken curry!) (edited)

Honestly you wouldn’t feed stuff like this to your dog. Stop buying this crap and cook fresh.
