The PCIe 4.0 delivers 2x the data transfer rate of PCIe 3.0 while staying backward compatible for total versatility. The added heatsink elevates speed, power efficiency, and thermal control to maximize gameplay.

Maximum speedWith Samsung’s in-house controller for PCIe 4.0 SSD, the 980 PRO Series is optimized for speed. It delivers read speeds up to 7,000 MB/s, 2x faster than PCIe 3.0 SSDs and 12.7x faster than SATA SSDs. The 980 PRO series achieves max speeds on PCIe 4.0 and may vary in other settings.

Cashback is not available for this model (or any heatsink models). £40 cashback is valid for the non-heatsink model (Amazon ASIN: B08QJHLC8J): £176.96 - £40.00 = £136.96. amzn.eu/d/a…V62

    Important

Check the shipped firmware version, if it's 3.x update it ASAP as it's bugged and will slowly kill the drive. Update with Samsung magician to version 4 or 5.

I got a 980pro 2tb recently but it says Amazon EU on the invoice... I don't think this is therefore eligible for the promotion? It was bought in the uk though.. ? I think this might catch a lot of people out so be careful ...! (edited)

I just tried to buy it again and it says the same, even though it was saying sold by amazon.co.uk... it says Amazon EU S.a r.l when you go to checkout. the invoice I have says AMazon EU, uk branch... had anyone else brought this drive from amazon? (edited)

What cashback, also anything you buy like this from Amazon, inc blurays, games, controllers, any thing PC related, electronics etc etc will always be from Amazon EU S.a r.l and be on the invoice, there the same, but anyway, what cash back are you on about. (edited)

Its not a faulty or unreliable drive. It was a firmware issue that has now been fixed. (edited)

I've just missed this price, it's gone bk upto £184, so I've just ordered this ssd today for my PS5, coming tomorrow. Hope the firmware is updated when I get it. What I've been reading it just from the old batches before 2022.
    SgtJok3r's avatar
If there anyway to check without hooking up to a PC, or can we assume buying one now would have been updated? Please let me know how you get on

Just an update, mine arrived yesterday from Amazon - installed in my PS5 and shows a read speed of 6502MB/s, which from what I can tell online, means it's got the updated firmware. I've downloaded 50 games onto it and I've still got 720GB free. Very happy with the purchase.
