Looks like Amazon have got some more Samsung 830 256GB SSDs in, and they're price matching Novatech again.
33 left when I ordered mine.
(or you could just carry on waiting for the price to drop more )

sorted byErrr... This is a hard drive, not a netbook or a tablet.
Well the speed is good and the hard drive size is reasonable at 256gb. Be aware you are going to have to purchase a motherboard, processor, graphics card, screen and other components to make up the whole computer
The price hasn't changed in over 2 weeks.
I don't see the need for an extra thread for the same product considering this.
this is good, not many drives are faster, and none at this price atm.
Shutdown takes about 4 secs, startup about 20. My ram (3gb) really takes a hammering now, regularly using about 90%-95% when before lucky to get above 50%. I guess this is due to the increased data flow from the drive. Looking at upping to 4gb.
Disk gets a windows score of 7.7 on a sata II connection.
So the moral of the story is be prepaired for a clean install (windows 7, drivers and office filled approx 50gb).

I know what I saw having spent an hour on amazon trying to push the purchase through. You had to select prime only to reveal this info once out of stock. Funny enough we humans are still more adept than some pricing bot program.
Oh yeah, try being polite in future.

That was out of stock for a few days and went up in price - this post is fine to stay. Thanks
Amazons price never increased, they just keep pulling their listing when it goes OOS so it reverts to higher price marketplace sellers. Thanks.
They seem to be selling them as fast as they get stock in at the moment, my guess is that price will stabilise and only come down once they have enough stock. So your guess is as good as mine!
I belive it went up to £160 with a 1 -2 month dispatch (amazon).
I should know, missed out last week because my stupid samsung smart rewards pre paid card was declined for no reason.
Got round it today by buying gift vouchers and using those.
These better be good with all the deal posts they attract!
uhm, no.

no thanks.
This'll now go in my desktop PC. The 128gb from there will go to my laptop. And the 64gb from there will go to my Revo (XBMC). I'll be busy for a few days.
Me too. I expect there'll be the odd blip where prices drop a little lower, but there comes a time when you just have to make that purchase...
This one comes with a removable bracket which, once added, should make it a perfect fit.
Thanks, that makes sense. I also found out (on the Anandtech website) that its called a riser which can be used to fit a 7mm ssd into a 9.5mm laptop drive. Says that's the norm now. So with that sorted I'm going to brave it and order one.
My Windows 7 machine with I5 2500k and this drive in boots from cold to fully working at 39 seconds
No it wasn't, £114 for the 256GB Micron C400 was the best deal for that size so far.

Or would I be better off spending a little more on a faster one?
you are correct, forgot about that deal.
something's wrong with it then. my laptop (i5-480m, 128gb 830) does cold boot in 25 seconds, windows 7 itself about 15 seconds.

That still seems a little slow, according to that program my 830 manages 8 seconds with Firefox/Skype/Steam/Rocketdock/MSE at startup. However, it's still OK, 40secs seems really high and must be an issue with a driver or something. I know when I had Intel Rapid Storage installed, it added 15 seconds to my boot time.
I don't understand why this deal is so hot though, the 830 floats below £140 every other week. Like others said, make sure you sell your copy of Ghost for an extra £20.

probably my psu as windows 7 is fast once its booting and its fast enough for me
Don't feel bad, I paid £230 for 2 (each) a couple months back.
Luckily one doesn't work with my Macs and is being returned.
