A Direct Connection To Your Music
Known for their engaging signatures and liquid-smooth response, HD 660S predecessors HD 650 and HD 600 shattered performance barriers in the audiophile headphone category.

From Our Ears To Yours
In just one listen you will understand why the HD 660S is so special. Thousands of listening sessions later its purpose is even clearer.

Meshing Together
The steel mesh found on the HD 660S drive unit is interesting in design but most impressive when it comes to performance.

Capability, Meet Versatility.
Today’s audiophile has more component choices than ever.

Handled with care
Every HD 660S has experienced a matching regimen to mate each transducer to its opposite- channel counterpart.

It's all about connection

We packed your HD 660S with a versatile set of essential cables, each one impedance-matched with ultra-low capacitance.

This is a great deal. Look on the Sennheiser Outlet (where this deal links you to). There are loads of Sennheiser Headphones all massively reduced and all different types and budgets of headphones. I've bought several pairs from here.

They are advertised as "refurbished", which in my opinion is rubbish as I am certain all the pairs I bought were brand new. This is I believe a gimmick to help them sell more. Cambridge Audio do something similar on their ebay store.

Really worth having a look as the Outlet prices are very attractive and as said, brand new in brand new packaging, with a warranty as far as I can tell.

I already have the HD 58X.
Would this be worth buying as an upgrade?

If you only listen to classical music... maybe. If you listen to music which has some bass... no, not worth it. YMMV.
EQ won't help much either. If the price dropped to £10, I still would not buy them. (edited)

Great price. I just bought the Sony XM5s, I'm not sure I could sneak these in too without a divorce.

Buy them, she's not worth dancing around. H
Throw her out and enjoy her absence.

    Bargain , I have had this for 4 years now best Sennheiser headphones i have ever bought and I had : hd540 , hd580 ,hd 58x , hd595, hd600 , hd650 , hd700

They have the largest soundstage out of all the hd 6XX series , midrange is perfect as good as any hd6XX , the detail retrieval is comparable to hd700 and the bass is deeper than hd650 with more mid bass .

I haven't tried the new 660s2 but I am planning on buying them when they go on sale (edited)

They got superseded by the S2 model recently

I've never had any really good headphones. I listen to music from Spotify and YouTube via Bluetooth usually. Will I notice anything mind blowing by getting something like this? The most I've paid for headphones was 120 quid for some AKG's a while back.

As a non-audiophile, would it be like going from SD TV to HD TV or will it be a subtle difference that most people wouldn't really pick up on?

So much audiophoolery here. Go blind test FLAC vs Spotify quality: abx.digitalfeed.net/

Take anything people say about chains or DACs with a bucketload of salt

Also “youd need an audio DAC to get the most out of these” - ALL wired headphones REQUIRE a DAC (digital to analogue converter) if the source is digital. The TV will have a DAC built in if it has a headphone jack

The difference would depend on which AKGs you have but I suggest getting the much cheaper HD 560S instead. (edited)

Cracking deal. Good headphones. Great packaging, two sets of cables. One cable alone selling for £100. quality hard case.....I bought mine mint second hand for not much cheaper than this price. I use them straight into my fiio audio players . No amp . Sounds ok to me . Playing all types of jazz, jazz rock, fusion, soul, funk. Yes it would be better to pick up the newer S2 version ....but no case and £250 more......

Any suggestions if I should grab HD 560S instead which is discounted to £129? (edited)

After much deliberation I've jumped in both feet and ordered! Will suffer the consequences and challenges as to why I need 5 pairs of headphones when I only have one set of ears

I have this many too (well, 6 and some custom IEMs I don't use). They make me happy. Different cans for different genres and different scenarios (mainly, empty house = open backed, noisy family = closed!)

If this was for the S2 I would have got them.

Refurbished for £240 from the outlet tab which will almost certainly be "As New" from past history
    stkrup's avatar
It just £19 extra to have it new, no brainer

HD 560S measure closer to Harman for less money. Save your money and go for those instead

I would advise against buying these headphones. I sold mine after a few weeks. I loved their sound but they lack bass (I'm not a bass-head at all). It's almost completely rolled off. It's not good. It's been discontinued for a reason. Not worth it - save your money and get the 660S2.

I bought a pair of these refurb from Senns a couple of months ago for £270, I must admit I was a bit nervous but they were immaculate, I have mine hooked upto a IFi Zen Dac 2 and they sound amazing, I was using the 560s and the 599s before, they even make Spotify sound good, Although I have a Qobuz subscription.

    Recomended

Any suggestions for a newbie on DAC to hook up? Contemplating on FiiO-BTR3k (entry level to get started on audiophile journey).
