Is it worth shelling out 4x more for the Sony mx 4s?

Absolutely not according to Rtings, the Sony ARE better yes, but not 4x the price better

I've had these for about 8 months. Good headphones.

There is a problem with them being a bit top heavy, if you lean too far forward or look up they'll slide off. But in terms of comfort I can wear them for hours without a problem.

The sound is really good, and they have an equalizer in the soundcore app with a bunch of presets.

The noise cancelling is very effective for persistent noise like a vacuum, water running or even road noise, and you can just touch the right ear to enable transparency mode which then pipes in sound from the mics in case you need to talk to someone.

The battery lasts ages, I use them about an hour in the morning and sporadically throughout the day, and it will days before it slips to saying "battery medium" and then stay there well over a week.

My only real usability gripe with it is turning them off. You hold the power button down for 4 seconds, but if it hasn't quite been depressed correctly, you wont know it hasn't worked until you try again. I wish the power button was a bit more instant.

Great review. Agree with everything. Might add that they have a shortcut for changing 1 of 2 devices , which is a great feature. (double press on off button)

The sound is the best on the Q30s model because of the speakers. If you want a clean audiophile sound that's the EQ. They sound 10 times better than normally.

The on off is really odd and long , but I now just look at the light . It flashes red when turning off is complete. But still it's a bit bothersome.

    Any good on planes ?
My trusty old Aero 7 Ancs have broken and in the market for good value replacements
    Nealjane100's avatar
Anc only over Bluetooth - anc won’t work wired on these anymore (edited)

Thanks It's the plane droning engine noise in wanting to kill, Will see if anyone else has used on planes

Don't know about Q30, but ANC works on Q35 with cable rather than Bluetooth, and with nothing connected too. I have Q35 and used them on plane several days ago and they were great. Q35 has Bluetooth lossless LDAC which is nice if your phone can do it, and they sometimes come down to about 85 quid if you are patient

    Apple ones better

Yup, and only ten times the price of these!

My first set packed up last week, the noise cancelling developed a fault sounded like an old hearing.
A high pitch whistle, after 14 months.
Called Soundcore, after they asked me to unpair them and reset them.
    They we’re deemed faulty.
A new pair arrived next day.
Thats what I call good service.

I have these and the Bose QuietComfort 45. The difference is negligible. Bass integrity even at high volumes is unreal on the Soundcore. Highly recommend at this price.

Great headphones, BUT be weary that the plastic corners on the headband will crack and break off. Not sure how widespread but known issue
    daved84's avatar
This happened to me and they sent me out new replacement headphones from amazon

I got gifted this and I'm very happy with them. One thing I noticed was using the EQ presets via the Soundcore app, it doesn't lower the volume, it actually improves on it! Unlike other apps, tweaking the EQ usually results in at least a 10% volume reduction, not with these.

The bass fidelity is quite good as well! Surprisingly fantastic value, and wouldn't mind choosing this over the Bose 700s (which I got from the Gergle Perxl Serx deal).

Yep, they're great. Obviously, the anc isn't as good as the premium options from Sony/Bose, but it does the job, and the sound quality is better than my wh-1000xm3. Just wished they looked a bit better, they stick out and make my enormous melon look even bigger.

Found the acoustic and piano presets the best, and Oluv (YouTube audiophile) has a great eq setting, although I prefer a bit more bass.

The 1More Sonoflow headphones are currently £65 on Amazon and IMO, quite a bit better. I'm a bit annoyed as I bought these last week for £75 and the price dropped, and Amazon no longer do partial refunds, but I can't be bothered to return the headphones and re-order.

What's the noise cancelling like on the 1More Sonoflow? Have you tried any other ANC cans to compare them to?
    Thx

I use these for work in an office environment. Sound quality is very good, battery life is amazing (40 hours)
The noise cancelling is just OK (when listening to a podcast, can still hear slight murmurs from colleagues 20+ feet away). My biggest gripe is, I was on a bus journey, (kind of bumpy) and the ANC didn't like it at all, was unusable. Same thing when walking, sounded like the speakers were loose and banging around inside the casing.

Fantastic headphones for the price. Used them daily for work calls on Teams and when travelling by air and train.

49628367-6pCSF.jpg49628367-a8CfE.jpgMy Q30's failed just after 12 months - there is clearly an inherent design flaw as the plastic has fatigued in exactly the same way on both sides of the band.

I look after my stuff and treat it well - they've not been dropped or abused in any way.
Read the one star reviews on Amazon - there are plenty of identical pictures to mine.

These are best to be avoided. (edited)

Lots of people said that about the akg c50bt too. Those are the headphones I'm replacing, had and used 40 hours a week for over 3 years and still no issues (I just wanted something else for a change!)

I hope you're wrong but time will tell.

Good price, i paid about that for mine a year or so a go.
Good base, general sound quality and battery life.
ANC (Partner cancellation ) works quite well, not as good as Bose, but 1/4 the price
    lonechump's avatar
    But what about the Bass?
  17. Kai_Kinder's avatar
Paid this for them on release day, they've been this price so much now surely this has to be the default price for them

They are fantastic, and it IS a great price but goddamn

You'd think so but they keep putting them up to £80.

I have these - really good for the price. Noise cancelling is quite decent.

The phone app allows you to EQ settings to exactly how you want. After a little fiddling there I was really happy with the sound.

Don’t need these whatsoever but I’m still tempted to buy them

Dunno if I've just got a defective pair or everyone else here are just shills; but I've had these for about 6 months now and the noise cancellation is mediocre. As in, it doesn't block out everyday traffic. At this price, yeah it's an okay deal but don't expect amazing quality.

It's more that for most people a pair of £50 headphones is seen as quite expensive and is a significant upgrade over Skullcandy's bought from Poundland.

At this price point I'd rather have good passive isolation over poor active, but it's likely less expensive to use generic software on mass produced items than it is to use good quality pads.
  26. chicaneuk's avatar
I got the Q20’s on offer for something crazy like 30 quid and they are excellent.. noise cancellation is surprisingly good and the sound quality is excellent (and I have some decent headphones to benchmark them against). Battery lasts an eternity. Can only assume these are better all round so.. well worth picking up! (edited)
  27. Zooicidal's avatar
I have a pair of these in the bedroom for finishing off episodes etc so don't use the ANC. With it off the battery lasts forever. They sound good too but it annoys me it's only really budget headphones like these that give us such great battery life, it's not like the more expensive ones couldn't if they wanted to.

I spent ages researching other brands before i bought mine, didn't disappoint, got them on Amazon Black friday for cheap. Sound is really impressive and the EQ on the app works great, ANC also brilliant and i'm still amazed at how long the battery lasts. The wife uses them for running and no issues at all.

I bought some Anker headphones couple years ago (lower model) and they're still going strong, fantastic for the price. Not an audiophile so can't comment on the sound quality, but it's sooo comfortable, like marshmallows on your ears, pretty sure they modelled it after the Bose ones, hot!

I have these, they're best headphones I've ever owned. Amazing sound, just use the app to set them to the "Piano" preset first, and then adjust from there.
